If anyone has a clean record on climate change in the potential GOP field, it’s former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. While Palin set up a sub-Cabinet office to map out the state’s response to global warming as governor, and sought federal dollars to help coastal communities threatened by erosion, she has been steadfast in saying human beings are not responsible for climate change and that proposals to limit pollution threaten the economy.
During the 2008 debates, only one candidate gave an intelligent answer.
OBAMA : (dumbass)
we’re not going to be able to deal with the climate crisis if our only solution is to use more fossil fuels that create global warming.
MCCAIN : (dumbass)
And I introduced the first legislation, and we forced votes on it. That’s the good news, my friends. The bad news is we lost. But we kept the debate going, and we kept this issue to — to posing to Americans the danger that climate change opposes.
BIDEN : (Boorish repetitive dumbass)
Well, I think it is manmade. I think it’s clearly manmade. And, look, this probably explains the biggest fundamental difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and Sarah Palin and Joe Biden — Governor Palin and Joe Biden. If you don’t understand what the cause is, it’s virtually impossible to come up with a solution. We know what the cause is. The cause is manmade. That’s the cause. That’s why the polar icecap is melting. Now, let’s look at the facts. We have 3 percent of the world’s oil reserves. We consume 25 percent of the oil in the world.
PALIN : (Intelligent and articulate)
But there are real changes going on in our climate. And I don’t want to argue about the causes. What I want to argue about is, how are we going to get there to positively affect the impacts? We have got to clean up this planet. We have got to encourage other nations also to come along with us with the impacts of climate change, what we can do about that.
You are right Steve.
The hatred that people show at the mere mention of this woman’s name is
insane.
They hate her for being a happy, sane, strong, beautiful, smart, responsible woman and mother. She stands for everything they couldn’t be.
happy, strong & beautiful. Sure.
Yes she is. What is angry, weak, and ugly is the people that hate her.
Hate her? No, just amazed at how much political traction she has being only happy, strong and beautiful. The rest of the list is rather important.
She hasn’t traveled to all 58 states yet.
Ya, that’s all it is, happy beautiful and strong.
BTW, what is it with Barack Obama that people liked so much? The only thing he can do is read off a teleprompter well. There’s nothing else to him—except a bunch of teenage idealism.
Americans like a good speechifyer I guess.
I don’t see how she is much different than them. She talks about climate change and then conjoins it with cleaning up the planet. There is no ambiguity. She thinks pollution causes climate to change.
John McCain seems to be a chameleon on all issues. It could be that his time in the Hanoi Hilton broke his will.
Pallin was reasonable about the issue wrong to say intelligent. None are intelligent. Though Biden is completely wrong to say we know- its not proven and no scientists say its proven. If Biden had started with his last statement- “We have 3 percent of the world’s oil reserves. We consume 25 percent of the oil in the world” and formed an argument based on that and the distortion of foreign then it would have been sensible. I read the full transcript and Lehrer didn’t ask them the most important question- on what basis should major policy decision be made?- On the basis of someone opinion whether it be a profession (scientist or politician) or the basis of direct proof especially scientific proof that directly address the issue at hand.
Did anyone think this could happen?
Rudy Giuliani leads new national poll

Palin 3rd.
Giuliani/Bachmann!
Something resonates with me on a primal level about Rudy Giuliani. He did what he said he was going to do when he was mayor of New York. He cut taxes, eased regulations on business, cut welfare, and cleaned up Times Square—and he didn’t back down from the mafia in the process, even though he received death threats and had to hired a body guard.
