Last summer I spent a week in San Jose and was amazed by the very cool weather. This year I am in East LA and exactly the same story. Sunny, breezy and high temperatures in the 60s. Almost too cool for short sleeves.
Wherever global warming is happening, it isn’t in California.
Chains required at I 80 this morning
http://www.iceagenow.com/Chains_required_on_I-80_this_morning.htm
I pulled into East LA once… off the fwy in my car looking for some gas. Went to a gas station….. which had an armed guard, who took one look at me and told me to leave. He pointed the way to the nearest onramp and suggested I leave immediately, to avoid being shot.
The part where I am is very nice. Much nicer than the sleaze in Hollywood and Santa Monica Blvd.
An excellent article 7th June 2011 in Financial Post. Please take the time to read it
http://opinion.financialpost.com/2011/04/07/climate-models-go-cold/
David Evans consulted full-time for the Australian Greenhouse Office (now the Department of Climate Change) from 1999 to 2005, and part-time 2008 to 2010, modelling Australia’s carbon in plants, debris, mulch, soils, and forestry and agricultural products. He is a mathematician and engineer, with six university degrees, including a PhD from Stanford University in electrical engineering. The comments above were made to the Anti-Carbon-Tax Rally in Perth, Australia, on
Just read it … excellent article. It just goes to show how some people will cling to their theories, models, etc. in spite of evidence to the contrary.

Don’t you know hot weather only targets poor countries and wherever they are the most vunerable?
LA weather has been great, here in Pedro, I’ve been keeping a sweater on till 11 and then putting it back on at 4 as the daily breeze kicks in.
My business in Arizona takes us to both Northern and Southern California on a regular basis and the Bay Area (San Jose / San Francisco) is cold and rainy and Southern California is as Steve has noted, way cool for this time of year. Summer in southern Cal is hot and it should be getting hot by now.
As far as Arizona is concerned, this has been about the nicest spring I can remember. It is barely starting to break triple digits but the mornings and late afternoons are really nice.
I just came back from San Diego a couple of weeks ago. It was not warm enough for shorts! I thought it was just for my short stay. Apparently not since you are still getting the same weather (bu-bu-but it is not GLOBAL).
The green killer: Scores of protected golden eagles dying after colliding with wind turbines
California’s attempts to switch to green energy have inadvertently put the survival of the state’s golden eagles at risk.
Scores of the protected birds have been dying each year after colliding with the blades of about 5,000 wind turbines.
Now the drive for renewable power sources, such as wind and the sun, being promoted by President Obama and state Governor Jerry Brown has raised fears that the number of newborn golden eagles may not be able to keep pace with the number of turbine fatalities.
The death count along the ridgelines of the Bay Area’s Altamount Pass Wind Resource Area has averaged 67 a year for three decades.
The 200ft high turbines, which have been operating since the 1980s, lie in the heart of the grassy canyons that are home to one of the highest densities of nesting golden eagles in the US.

Best Mexican food on the planet…Enjoy!
Give me a good curry anyday. Dave!!
I’ll see your chicken tikka masala and raise you an East L.A. chili relleno any day!
It’s “global wierding”! That’s any weather peer reviewed by climate experts and determined to be less than perfect.
Welcome to LA!
Fundamentally, we’re still getting March weather in June here in LA, with cold fronts and rain storms coming through. March is my favorite month in LA, so I’m not complaining, but I’ve never seen this weather last anywhere near this late in the year, even when we have had a very wet rainy season.

“Wherever global warming is happening, it isn’t in California.”
An anomaly map would help. Please note that LA straddles the white zone which is -2C- +.2C. relative to 1951-1980. You may now look at the rest of the world. After all it’s known as Global Warming-as in G.L.O.B.A.L.
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/do_nmap.py?year_last=2011&month_last=04&sat=4&sst=1&type=anoms&mean_gen=04&year1=2011&year2=2011&base1=1951&base2=1980&radius=1200&pol=reg
You should check some of Steve’s earlier posts on GISS. Those maps are a farce!

“G.L.O.B.A.L.”
By that do you mean … Gravy-train Living Off Bullshit And Lies?
An anomaly map will help you too P.J..
Sorry I get these confused, so is -2C – +.2C less than or greater than -20 F ?
Because -20 F is what our temperature anomaly is here in Sacramento. See normally we would be at 85 or so.
“Sorry I get these confused, so is -2C – +.2C less than or greater than -20 F ? “
When I said G.L.O.B.A..L. I forgot to mention that you keep the annual as well. For those who haven’t noticed, we live in both time and space.
Please notice how the cool blue, in your neck of the woods, is surrounded by the even prettier orange in the USA not to mention those cozy gold, red and maroon colors.

Now let’s take that pesky dimension of time and stretch it out a little bit. Now, now it’s only 10 years (Warning: Near sighted people should put their contacts on).

Ten years of garbage sifted by a politician pretending to be a scientist – doesn’t make it smell like roses.
Ill, those maps work to scare children. They don’t work for people that are informed by what goes into them.(the regulars here) Extrapolation and interpolation= imagination. GISS wants to tell us its hotting up in the arctic……fine show us a thermometer. Better yet, show us the thermometers in the antarctic……….Can’t within 250 km? Then quit making shite up. I can name the two sites for the entire interior antarctic………..neither is worth a damn. Read the Steig/O’Donnall debacle.
Yes, it is GLOBAL. So please post where the dire predictions are coming true around the GLOBE. It seems that we are always hearing about them, but they never seem to be anywhere people actually live.
Kind of like the shell game. Keep moving the pea so no one can see where itis.
<a href="http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2011/05/14/giss-extrapolations-10c-gradient-across-a-few-miles/The 10 degree C gradient jump is still well represented.
Take two.
The 10 degree C gradient jump is still well represented – in spirit if not in fact
@Ill Wind: “An anomaly map will help you too P.J..”
I actually posted four of them, but because I put the links all in the same post, it is still stuck in moderation hell 9 hours later. Paper Tiger posted two of them … have a look for yourself. The GISS anomoly maps are a farce.
P.S. If that doesn’t do it for you, just search this site by putting “GISS” in the search bar … there is plenty of reading to keep you busy.
Leading Republican candidate is global warmer
“I don’t speak for the scientific community, of course, but I believe the world is getting warmer. I believe humans contribute to that…….I think it’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and green house gases that may well be significant contributors to the climate change and global warming that you’re seeing,”, Mitt Romney
http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/romney-i-believe-world-getting-warmer
It doesn’t sound like the Republican base is panting with excitement over the Romney candidacy.
The MSM is, just like they did for McCain 4 years ago. They want to pick the republican candidate.
Eh, no. We live in space. Time is the progression of life, not its existance.
The potential problem for passionate Republicans is that they will split their vote among several of the “exciting” candidates, leaving the field wide open for Romney (snore) with his big money and media backing.
Correct. GOP leadership is in disarray. They need to pull their heads out, or they’ll be pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory.
WTF is going on! I live in Santa Monica and have my whole life and its freakin cold and overcast, as is today. We’ve been lucky to have a few days of warmer weather mixed in but doesn’t being up the average in my opinion.. blah and we got back from my husbands hometown, Miami in May and yea same, not as warm as remembered…
I remember visiting different places in the LA basin since the 50s and encountered similar weather conditions during some summers. I recall waiting for the fog to burn off and carrying a jacket in case the wind was blowing off the ocean. I did not actually live there but visited relatives that lived there and vacationed there also. This sounds like the weather from the 70s and early 80s.
Ill Wind Blowing:
Your post remind me of the old saying I learned when studying computers many years ago: GIGO! The evidence you provide to support your claims are mostly based on Garbage inputs.
