Manhattan will drown as soon as the electricity goes off for a couple of weeks.
It used to be an island of hills and streams. It has now been altered drastically by the artificiality of the human infrastructure. As a result, Manhattan’s subway tunnels would drown if it weren’t for massive pumps constantly pumping the water out.
The subway system would be the first thing to go, and very fast. Eventually streets would buckle and collapse. Finally rivers will run down the collapsed streets.
Global Warming’s icontribution to the collapse of this nation’s social structure and physical infrastructure is likely to contribute to the depopulation of many cities; especially Manhattan. So you won’t need to wait till 2075+ for the ocean to drown Manhattan.
Weird, you build tunnels below sea level and water seeps in. Whoever would have thought?
Seems I overestimated how long the tunnels will survive:
http://www.worldwithoutus.com/big_slideshow.html
PS: I forget, but that is likely to be fresh water.
Water in the tunnels has absolutely nothing to do with global warming. I think you are a skeptic making fun of alarmists.
Right this very second at 01:36 EST, National Geographic channel is running a real laugher of a propaganda show about sea level rise (expect 6 feet by 2100, 22 feet by 2200!). It is prima facie evidence of insanity.
The star moonbat is Peter Ward (btw, who is completely indistinguishable from the uber-alarmist upthread called: Ill wind blowing aka Villalobo), and is really hawking a crazy book of which NatGeo is all too happy to oblige. These are psychotics, and they have enablers in the media.
P.S. If anyone reads this in the next few minutes, watch the Glenn Beck re-run at 02:00 EST instead. It was one of the Founders themed shows and highlighted some good information. It is also one of the last shows he has on Fox. I wish he had done more of these.
Steve:
” I think you are a skeptic making fun of alarmists.
Steve; how can I outdo this:
Blade:
“If anyone reads this in the next few minutes, watch the Glenn Beck re-run at 02:00 EST instead. … It is also one of the last shows he has on Fox. I wish he had done more of these.”
I have no idea why you snipped the bolded part, but it is pretty much the expected level of accuracy from an AGW cult member. You don’t suppose that the bolded part was the point of that little comment, do you?
Beck had made quite a good reputation for himself back when he did his Founders Fridays sub-series (of which I *highly* recommend the one on Black Founders). For those that actually care about the Constitution and our history these special shows he did was as good as commercial TV gets.
No doubt Madison, Franklin, Washington, Adams and many more that secured the freedoms you take for granted wouldn’t interest you. You’re much too busy trying to convince people to give away those freedoms and further empower the ruling class through the AGW scam.
Well, immediately after I posted that comment, the pied piper of propaganda appeared: James Hansen.
He stated that sea levels might rise at a rate of 50 feet per century. Then, another nitwit followed him stating 4 to 6 feet per decade.
Steve and others could make a career out of dissecting this single propaganda show, which was called Earth Under Water (or something similar). The nutjob’s book was called The Flooded Earth (or something similar).
Another kook, Malcom Bowman talks about NYC flooding, *evacuating* NYC if all the ice in the world melts (yes they said it), get this: a ‘World War against sea level’ (no kidding again!) and wait for it: there *is* discussion about flooded NYC tunnels (coincidence?).
Enough said. Easily one of the most insane collections of AGW fantasies ever created.

Of course it’s a coincidence since I don’t watch television.
As for New York, you won’t need all the ice in the world to flood it. Furthermore, it would happen so slowly that the natives could pack up their bags in leisure.
Not that I care. One of my favorite sayings is:
The corn in Kansas doesn’t care when Miami or Manhattan will get flooded. The corn in Kansas only cares about itself. How much water it gets; not too little, not too much. So you better make sure the corn in Kansas stays happy because if it doesn’t then you won’t be happy.
And please don’t tell me that has nothing to do with Global Warming.
With more global warming, we will be producing corn in Greenland.
@Ill Wind: “As for New York, you won’t need all the ice in the world to flood it. Furthermore, it would happen so slowly that the natives could pack up their bags in leisure. Not that I care”
If you claim that man-made global warming will flood and destroy New York , then you say that you don’t care, then what does that say about you? To argue that it is our fault and then say that you don’t care about the result because it doesn’t affect you is hypocritical. Just look at Al Gore, James Cameron, Prince Charles, Ted Turner, etc. They all call us “deniers” and tell us to live with less and make sacrifices to save the planet, but they refuse to do so themselves. Please tell me you are not like that (though based on your “not that I care” comment, I’m not holding my breath).
IWB, in spite of our 30 years of CAGW, the corn in Kansas, indeed, worldwide is significantly up since the start of this doomsday prognostication.
Now, pouring 40% of it down our gas tanks, that’s a different discussion.
Kansas produces only a tiny percentage of the US corn crop, especially without irrigation. If we were dependent on Kansas for corn production, we would have starved a long time ago.
lol, Hey!!! Get off my state!!!! Actually, KS is 6th in the nation of corn production. And, yes, other states in the bread basket produce quite a bit more……Iowa and Illinois produce significantly more. We’re more grain farmers than corn.
