Maybe you shoud redirect from real-science.com until this stuff is fixed permanemtly. Did you see results of Australian ABC climate poll before 55% against 20000 votes after looks like 56% so far with only 3000 counted LOL
Excuse lack of commas!
Great gallery of 1902 cars per your link! And of course you can check out the other years. They wore those frilly hats, but there’s no windshield. Hard to believe those things would go far, but by 1903 someone drove a vehicle across the country, despite a lack of roads and gas stations and all.
Interesting tale of the 1903 drive across the country: http://americanhistory.si.edu/onthemove/exhibition/exhibition_7_2.html. Also, Ken Burns did a 2003 film on it (Google Image: “Horatio’s Drive” for some pics of Horatio and his dog Bud) to celebrate the anniversary: http://www.pbs.org/kenburns/films/horatio.html
There was a real race to be the first, kind of like Lindberg racing to be the first to fly across the Atlantic. A story of using all available resources at hand to get the job done. I imagine the telephone was key, as they must have had to plan and call ahead to arrange for all the places where they would pick up gas.
