Despite Berwyn’s bully pulpit, only one third of Summit County residents believe him.
Back in early March, the Summit Daily ran an online poll asking readers what they thought about climate change. The available answers were (1) Climate change is occurring but not due to human activity; (2) It is a complete hoax; and (3) It is a serious thing and something we can and should do something about. A forth option was “I’m not sure.” Even though online polls are notoriously inaccurate, I found the results quite interesting.
The “Not Sure” response, which I thought would bring in a lot more votes if people really voiced their true opinions, turned out to poll at only 3.5 percent. The other three choices, amazingly, polled at about a third of the votes for each. A small majority thinks climate change is real, but not due to us. Next came the “It’s a hoax” crowd; leaving true believers in a close third place. There are few “undecideds” in this discussion.

According to the author
The view that climate change is real, but not caused by humans, is also perplexing. If it is not us, what in the world is causing it to get warmer?
So, no doubt, he can explain why climate has changed in the past and be able to prove why natural factors have not caused the extremely small amount of warming since the LIA.(Which of course he will be able to explain)
I can answer his question: $hit Happens!
“The fact that 33 percent think this thing is a hoax is quite scary. It is not clear whether those voting for this choice believe our warming itself is also a hoax or if they feel that the scientific reason for the warming is a fairy tale of best-seller proportions. Many people who subscribe to this view — including our very own resident skeptic, Dr. Hertzberg — are probably being influenced by think tanks like the Heartland Institute, a non-profit funded mostly by libertarian foundations and energy interests who have the most to lose if we get serious about addressing climate change . These groups reject even the possibility that our carbon use is warming the planet. They are also responsible for a lot of the published charts that slant historical data in favor of their position.”
The above proves Dave Yost is either a jackass or a just another run of the mill CAGW zealot.
I sent Mr. Yost an email with a graph of the wood for trees temperature index. He said he had seen a plot like that from Heartland but that the actual data sets (Nasa etc) show continued warming. As usual these people are dismissive when they see something contradicting global warming, he doesn’t even know the wood for trees index is the average of the other data sets and doesn’t bother to find out.
