Suppose for a minute that Hansen’s BS was correct. His Arctic temperatures are warming much faster than the equator, and he says that global warming is accelerating.
If his claims were accurate, eventually the North Pole would be the same temperature as the equator. The earth would completely lose it’s heat engine, and become calm like the atmosphere of Venus – which never has any storms.
Energy flow is driven by differences in energy, not absolute energy. Global warming should produce fewer and weaker storms, not more and stronger storms.
Should definitely make for fewer and weaker tornadoes, as you will lose the clash between cold and warm air and weaken the jetstream.
Actually my understanding is that the climate models do show that the jetstream weakens slightly given enough time. So there is even a disconnect between what the models report and what certain promoters of the models claim. Very strange.
I assume you mean “Energy flow is driven by differences in temperature”
Is one end of your AA battery hotter than the other?
LOL!
Meteorologists know this temperature difference between the poles and the equator is the main driver of weather. However, even though winds would slow, rains would increase.
Most rain in the mid-latitudes is associated from the passage of cold fronts, which would no longer happen.
Nevertheless, we must concede the trend would be towards more evaporation and more rain until eventually the rain would diminish.
Why would there be more evaporation? The stagnant air would become very humid – which would suppress evaporation. Like a hot summer day on the east coast.
How long would it take for the earth’s poles to warm to the same temperature as the equator when it is generally agreed that for every one degree of warming at the equator there will be 3-5 at the poles?
Let’s say there is 40C difference between the pole and the equator, and the current average temperature at the pole is -20C. If the pole were warming at 1C per decade, it would take around 500 years for them to become equal at 30C
Mark Lynas could make that happen in a blink of the eye…
The warming out of the Younger Dryas was something like a degree per decade…
When the warmists describe their work as “climate change” aren’t they claiming above all that warming will result in more, not less, fluctuations in weather and climate? However, a warmer planet approximates towards an eternal spring as seasonal variations are lessened when the temperature gradient from pole to equator lessens.
A warming planet approximates to the eternal spring of the golden age, not the nightmare of the warmists.
