Just the thought of the tax is causing mother nature to freeze up. The same with the economy. They passed a law down there that you go to prison if you say that you are raising prices because of the carbon tax. I guess they don’t have a thing called the First Amendment down under. There was a time when a free people would rise up and remove with violence a sovereign who, committed far less injury than what is now being perpetrated on the people of Australia.

Australia is an island nation. Island nations politics are sometimes susceptible to strange diseases and fall prey due to their isolation. Whenever I read material opposing the carbon tax in Australia, I’ve always wondered: “My God! How pathetic they sound!”

Australia does not have a bill of rights or a constitution that covers freedom of speech and other central claims of the citizenry. Being a Commonwealth country it is quite possible to pass draconian laws if the political party in question was prepared to accept the consequences at the next election. Past Australian governments also banned publications they disagreed with, although fortunately this is much harder to do in the age of the internet.
It is very likely that before the time for the next election, Ms. Gillard will abrogate the constitution and establish an undisguised dictatorship.
