One Born Every Minute

Lazarus gets the PT Barnum Award for this comment.

Lazarus says:

According to the ice cores the climate is warmer now than it has been in the last 100,000 years.

Something that was unknown in 1986.

Let’s have a look at the graph Lazarus refers to.  (Correction the graph below is actually a different Wikipedia graph) The proxies show temperatures declining steadily over the last 8,000 years. Connelly or one of his clones recently threw in the fraudulent “Recent Proxies” inset at upper right, which is not proxies at all. It is Mann’s Hockey stick – which specifically threw out the proxy data after 1960.

Even more ridiculous, satellites show no warming in Antarctica since the start of the satellite record. Perhaps Lazarus thinks Antarctic ice is teleconnected to Briffa’s tree?

Antarctic ice cores show nothing but noise for the last 10,000 years, and a lower peak than the previous four interglacials.

Proving once again that “you can fool some of the people all of the time.”

  1. Lazarus says:

Are your really trying to convince people that it was warmer 8000 years ago than in 2004 from that graph?

    • DirkH says:

Notice the copyright notice under the graph in the wikipedia:
“This figure was prepared by Robert A. Rohde from publicly available data and is incoporated into the Global Warming Art project.”

Lazarus, before Mann, Hansen and Jones perverted climate science, climate scientists knew of a thing called the Holocene Climate Optimum 8,000 years ago.

Geologists STILL know it because they’re bitter old clingers.

    • LLAP says:

This one doesn’t go back 8000 years, but it proves Hansen was wrong … again!

    • Sundance says:

Laz – I’m not sure what your original point with these graphs was, but there is a great deal of evidence in the paleoclimate literature that it was warmer during the early Holocene than today. There are several peer reviewed studies indicating that there were times in the early Holocene where the Arctic Ocean temperatures were 30 degreesF warmer than today and that the Arctic ice cap melted completely in the summer. you can also look at the Eemian period roughly 120,000 years ago when ocean levels were 70 feet higher than today. What I’m seeing in your graph http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Co2-temperature-plot.svg which you posted in the other thread that Steve linked, is that there is very little difference between peak warming at Epica Dome C in the past with CO2 less than 300 PPM and current warming with CO2 at 390 PPM. We are still 1.5 to 3 degreesC short of paleoclimate estimates of global temperatures in the early Holocene based on coral, sea bed, stalagmite and a multitude of other proxies. You need to consider all proxy data in the paleo record before coming to the conclusion that it is warmer now than it was 8,000 years ago basd on one or two Wiki graphs. Just a thought.

  2. Marian says:

    Yeah, Steve.

It does look like ‘Con artist’ Connelly’s been doing his favorite ‘Goebbels’ trick of rewriting Wiki climate articles in his own image as usual whenever he can getaway with it..

“Even more ridiculous, satellites show no warming in Antarctica since the start of the satellite record.”

The only warming of Antarctica has been computer made extrapolations. Including the fraudulent 2C warming claim for the Antarctica Peninsular and Western Antarctic region!

  3. DirkH says:

    Makes you wonder…
The Post-Normal scientists must get their hands on the ice core records to pervert them to complete their victory over science…
Wonder if they already have their goons in those institutes.

  4. Lance says:

dang…I can’t recall what the weather was like 8000 years ago, but it seems just like yesterday…

Libs get to make up all their own facts. It’s a rule. Their new “facts” become true by repeating them over and over and over until repetition wears everyone else out.

  7. Lazarus says:

So Steve what you are saying is that the data graphed shows Hansen was correct but if you can find enough excuses to convince yourself that the graph is wrong you can claim that you are right.

    • Lazarus, I have never visited your blog, but perhaps this will help you.

      From the 1990 IPCC report.

      • Lazarus says:

You have never visited my blog? Liar, Liar pants on fire!
        http://reallysciency.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/steve-goddard-caught-lying.html

BTW, are you accepting what the IPCC is saying these days or just the bits you can spin to fit in with your personal ideology?

      • What is wrong with you? I provide an open forum for people to discuss science here with no censorship, and you abuse it day after day. Perhaps I did visit your blog once a while back and don’t remember it. Who cares – you little weasel?

      • suyts says:

Lol, Laz, what if someone sent a screen shot in the email….. what if his wife saw your blog and related the post? What if someone reposted your thread and credited you? What if….. a whole bunch of things…… how is that relevant?

      • Lazarus says:

Seems strange that you don’t remember visiting a web page that prompted a very heated post of your own that you then had to correct.

Even stranger how you imagine I abuse your non censorship policy. What have I said that you think is an abuse? It is me that has to endure the infantile name calling of being labelled an idiot, scum, weasel etc. directly from the this blogs host as well as some of its readers, while I have never stooped to low to retaliate.

      • No discussion with you is memorable, because you are a compulsive nitpicking little girl.

You made a post calling me a liar for not remembering some junk site I may have clicked on months ago? What a scumbag.

      • Glacierman says:

  8. dave says:

He thinks it’s warmer now because the ice core melted when he examined it.

  9. In HH Lamb’s book “Climate: Present, Past and Future”, he finds many studies that show higher temperatures during most of the Holocene than now, and these are spread around the globe.

Now should I believe Lamb or Lazarus? Hmmm. Bit difficult that one.

    • Lazarus says:

Lamb died 15 years ago. But why bother keeping up with the research, and continued warming trend when you have already heard what you want to believe.

      • Because research keeps changing historical temperature records, right? All good scientists change the past to fit their preconceptions. Is that seriously your argument?

      • Lazarus says:

        Research advances – that’s why it’s research.
Conspiracy – is that seriously your argument?

      • suyts says:

Yeh Stark!! Just because you know that the odds of all of the “research advances” uniformly moving in one direction are as near as absolute zero as one can get doesn’t mean you shouldn’t humor the revisionists.

  10. slimething says:

Lazarus could always access the studies via this map (must have Java installed).
    http://www.co2science.org/data/timemap/mwpmap.html

I suppose though Hansen’s proclamations are more relevant than those who actually do the work.

  11. Andy DC says:

Since the thermometer has only been around since the 1600s, how do we know with certainty what temperatures were before that? We can speculate based on anecdotal evidence in a few places here and there, but it is highly doubtful that we can make many sweeping conclusions about the mean temperature for the entire world.

  12. Research advances – that’s why it’s research.
Conspiracy – is that seriously your argument?

You honestly think that historical temperature records change because of “Research”? Are you sure that’s what you want to be saying?
