Rising seas mean shrinking South Florida future, experts say Under current projections, the Atlantic would swallow much of the Florida Keys and Miami-Dade in a century, according to experts at a sea-level rise summit

The subject of global warming has become so politically unpalatable over the last few years that neither party mentions it much anymore. A conference on climate change sponsored by Florida Atlantic University made it clear that ignoring the threat has done nothing to slow it down — particularly in South Florida, which has more people and property at risk by rising sea levels than any place in the country. The two-day summit in Boca Raton, which wrapped up Friday, painted a bleak and water-logged picture for much of coastal Florida. Under current projections, the Atlantic Ocean would swallow much of the Florida Keys in 100 years.

Satellite measurements show no change in sea level in South Florida since they started taking measurements in 1992.
The Florida coral reefs have survived 120 metres of sea level rise over the last 15,000 years, because they grew upwards as sea level increased. This is one of the most fundamental principles of geology.
People on the Keys and Miami Beach can look out their windows and see that no land is being swallowed up. This scare talk has been going on for 30 years. Common sense would say that if absolutely nothing has happened over all that time, the continuous crying wolf has no basis in fact.
I believe part of the problem lies with the fact that so many people have no personal history in one place for generations. I know there are some who do but the vast majority of the people are mobile and living often times clear accross the country from where they were born. Those families who have been in place for generations and see the same land their great grandfathers did are less likely to be fooled with the climate change scam as their people before them experienced both hot and cold cycles and left memories. But the truth is coming out reguardless and these scammers are in for much derision and hopefully even punishment.
When Sea Level Change is Not Sea Level Change.

Ex climate change advocate now believes rising sea levels are not a problem, and that wind turbines are ‘useless’.

On the eve of the Rio+20 Summit, James Lovelock, often called the Godfather of global warming, and perhaps the most prominent climate alarmist for the last 40 years, has attacked the modern green movement – declaring its theories ‘meaningless drivel’.

My father was a 7th generation Floridian, and we spent many days tracing our ancestors paths in the state. The only loss of coastline has been from erosion. If anything has changed in 200 years, it is that the plantations that once sat on the water, are now set back further as the marshes silt in and land mass builds.
The hubristic assertion that humans can predict sea levels 100 years into the future is enough to peg the bovine excrement meter. Are these scientists-turned-prophesiers using climate models or crystal balls? Do they actually believe their clumsy models can peer into earth’s climate future decades from now, given the fact that most weather forecasters have trouble predicting the weather a week in advance?
The doomsday predictions of the sea-level soothsayers and climate clairvoyants have become an embarrassment to science.
