Phil Jones lists August, 1865 as the coldest month ever in the Southern Hemisphere.
The map below shows all of the land data he had that month. Jones had less than two dozen land based thermometers in the Southern Hemisphere and many of those were above normal. yet was able to report record cold with a precision of 0.001 degrees,
Phil Jones, James Hansen are just disgusting
The wonders of statistics. You can poll 3 people in Bulgaria and determine within .0001% certainty the results of the US Presidential election.
In 1865 Australia’s convicts would have had little time to even notice the cold through the sweat – remember that even the furthest southern most part of Tasmania is closer to the tropics than almost all of Europe including France, Germany and the UK Ireland etc.
And the convict settlements of places like Brisbane are subtropical – even Sydney is more tropical than most of Spain.
What a joke – convicts from the UK would only have noticed how hot Australia is !
Besides one can imagine the precision of 1865 thermometers read by either people transported for dishonesty or their keepers who involved themselves in such esteemed activities as the “rum rebellion”.
