Smoking Gun That USHCN Adjustments Are Fraudulent

U.S. Historical Climatology Network

After adjustments, USHCN shows a strong warming trend in New York.  They achieve this by massively cooling the past. All temperatures prior to 2000 are cooled as much as three degrees. The older a temperature record is, the more it has been tampered with. USHCN is cooling the past, at a rate of about two degrees per century.

We know from studies published on the GISS web site, that there has been a huge UHI impact in New York – up to 14F during summer nights.

Because of this large UHI effect, the USHCN adjustments should do the exact opposite of what they are doing. Recent temperatures should be adjusted downwards by several degrees, and older temperatures should be left alone.

The people in charge are defrauding the public.

It’s cooler in the country. What simple farmers have known for decades, the ‘world’s leading climate experts’ somehow just cannot quite figure out. Yeah, right.

  2. Eric Simpson says:

Speaking of fraud, these first 2 quotes in combo is all it takes to tell that story:
“The data doesn’t matter. We’re not basing our recommendations [for CO2 cuts] upon the data. We’re basing them upon the climate models.” -Chris Folland, UK Meteorological Office
“Rather than seeing models as describing literal truth, we ought to see them as convenient fictions which try to provide something useful [propaganda wise].” -David Frame, climate modeler, Oxford U
“In fact, the life of all mankind is in danger because of global warming.” -Osama Bin Laden

  3. Don Gaddes says:

The effect of the heat source contained in naturally occurring radioactive rocks is considerable, but rarely mentioned as a factor in the surface temperature debate. A further demerit for AGW!

  4. Andy DC says:

I go on “Real Climate” once in awhile just to see what they are up to. They gave some “peer reviewed” justifications for the adjustments, saying something incoherent about temperatures being taken at a different time in the old days, in the morning rather than afternoon? As far as I know, temperatures at major weather stations have been taken each hour for over 100 years. Also the “max/min” thermometer has also been around for a long time. Does anyone know what they are talking about?

    • If you take readings and reset your min/max thermometer every day at 3pm, and a cold front comes through at 4pm, your thermometer will incorrectly report the same high temperature two days in a row.

    • gator69 says:

They are FOS. Anyone who watches their local weatherman hears from time to time that the high for the day came at 12:01 AM. The high is the high, no matter what time it is.

      • Andy DC says:

You are always going to get quirks and freaky stuff with wind shifts and fronts going thru no matter what time your day begins. If you keep it midnight, like it always has been, they will all even out over time.

        • It isn’t a quirk. If anyone was stupid enough to reset their thermometers only once a day in early morning or mid-afternoon, they will get bad numbers on a consistent basis. I doubt that very many observers fit that description, and I doubt even more that Hansen and his gang of thieves could identify those people and reproduce their behavior.

  5. Well look at the good news. We were told that a 2C+ temperature increases over the next 100 years will devastate the environment. New York apparently experienced a several C increase (we just didn’t know it at the time) and nothing bad happened after all. 😉

    • Hansen says that Manhattan drowned in 2008. The remnants of the city were washed away by hurricane Irene.

      • Jason Calley says:

Even skeptics must admit that Irene was a record setting hurricane. Irene was the first hurricane ever observed to arrive on land and continue its path with sustained winds consistently below 75mph. This is obviously something new in our climate! 🙂

    • papiertigre says:

Yeah, and all those New Yorkers turned into climate zombies. Crazy from the 2C heat.

      • My parents (who just had their 60th wedding anniversary) grew up in New York. They tell me that it was wicked hot there during summers in the 1930s, and they used to go to movie matinees because theatres were the only place that had A/C.

      • Ben says:

        Steven,

Congratulations! Send a thank you to your parents for setting an example of love and commitment to the younger generations.

  6. The other curious outcome of adjusting the old temperatures backwards in time is that it also makes the entire warming cycle for New York look a perfectly natural steady progression. Didn’t the IPCC tell us that there wasn’t enough CO2 in the atmosphere circa 1950 for it to have any effect on temperature trends?

The adjusted New York temp data now looks steady warming from 1890 up until the present with no acceleration in the trend. So even adjusts of this type fail to make the case for dangerous temperature rises caused by CO2…

  7. gofer says:

Jones questioned the 2C limit in a climategate e-mail, saying something to the effect that “it appeared to be pulled out of thin air.” I wonder why people aren’t harping on this and demanding scientifice evidence?

John Kerry, who served in ‘Nam, fretted how it was 89 degrees during the Boston Marathon in his “deniers” are idiots and “we are all going to die” speech. He is more qualified to give a “How to avoid taxes by docking your 76’ yacht in an ajoining State” speech. Somebody tell him that’s weather not climate. Of course, all cold spells are weather and warm spells are climate, that’s just basic global warming science.

Thought for today: Why is it the most vocal supporters of AGW tend to also be the most wealthy?

As I sit here in my Brooklyn apt. I can look out my window and see the Statue of Liberty out in the Hudson. I think about what we’ve become— corrupt politicians, local & national, that now show total contempt for laws & liberties that they’re sworn to protect. Corrupt scientists, who allow money and an agenda to determine what will be the ‘truth.’ And a news media industry so blinded by twisted ideology that they have forgotten their primary mission– to question everything stated by these politicians & scientists, and not become idolizing cheerleaders for them.

I can almost imagine Lady Liberty ripping herself free of her pedestal and sloshing off in disgust.

  9. suyts says:

Lol, Steve and the rest of you …. you….. evil doers are now in for a heap of trouble!!! Kumi bear…. (no, really Kumi is his first name) Kumi bear is pissed!!!

Kumi Naidoo, Greenpeace International’s executive director, said there were so many fudges in the draft agreement that Greenpeace now had no other option but to change its strategy and start planning waves of civil disobedience.

Lol, but it gets better! “When asked if he was prepared to die for the cause, he responded: “Yes. I feel a very deep sense of that.” Be very afraid!

    • Many leftists died in order to create the USSR. The felt that introducing mass serfdom, corruption and suffering was worth dying for.

      • suyts says:

I think the greenpiss people are just as stupid to do such things, but, I don’t think they’ve ventured much beyond mom’s basement. So, I don’t think they have the capacity to move beyond Kumi bear’s blathering.

    • nigelf says:

Good, they can “civil disobediance” their asses right into a jail cell here in Canada. They’re terrorist cells in disguise and it’s time they were officially named as such and dealt with.

      • suyts says:

If those girls did anything remotely close to what that idiot Kumi is alluding to, I’d be genuinely surprised. These are children who put a premium on style over substance.

  10. Scarface says:

It will probably turn out to be some kind of uncivil discobediance, e.g. dancing naked in front of the parliament.

  11. slimething says:

Why does Steve Mosher avoid these types of examples?
