1930s deniers are running rampant in government, led by James Hansen – who has been working for decades to distort the historical records of the 1930s.
If accurate records of the 1930s were still included in Hansen’s temperature graphs, they would decimate his theory and kill a $100 billion industry.
Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up. And 1988 was a temporary inconvenience as compared with repeated droughts during the 1930s “Dust Bowl” that caused an exodus from the prairies, as chronicled in Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.

You could replace the chart title “US Temperature” with “US Gullibility” and it would make more sense.
Steven, as AWatts sells fine photo prints, here’s an idea for some remuneration for you, cause we all want to make sure you are not resource depleted so you always have the time to be dedicated to this great blog. Sell something in a post. Like a booklet of your climate history hits, showing definitively that the weather has always been tumultuous.
The hockey stick has been debunked. That means that temps are not unusual. And neither is stormy weather unusual. That means that their is nothing wrong with the climate. The climate is fine. It’s not broke. But we don’t want Steven to ever be broke, either.

For many years, I was an active supporter of the IPCC and its CO2 theory. Recent experience with the UN’s climate panel, however, forced me to reassess my position. In February 2010, I was invited as a reviewer for the IPCC report on renewable energy. I realised that the drafting of the report was done in anything but a scientific manner. The report was littered with errors and a member of Greenpeace edited the final version. These developments shocked me. I thought, if such things can happen in this report, then they might happen in other IPCC reports too.
Watched a good half hour documentary on the Weather Channel on the dust bowl. They discussed form 1931-1935. Showed why the rains failed to show up, a jet stream that comes from the gulf north up the plains had moved south into Mexico. They showed pictures of the dust storms and spoke of big dust storm that went though New York City out into the Atlantic. They had interviews with folks who lived though it tell little snippets. They even said 1934 was the hottest ever. It was interesting and unbiased.
I can only imagine the howls from Joe Romm et al, if a dust storm went through New York City now.
