The sun has passed the zenith and is starting to recede towards winter. The Greenland Ice Sheet is now in full bloom at -8C.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

I see the golf course has some new Arctic Cat golf carts which is good news for seniors who were interested in golfing there but were worried if they woulld have to walk the course in snow shoes.
That’s one heck of a “Snow” Trap, but at least they left the flags in the cups!
Vast right-wing conspiracy plot being perpetuated by Steve here. He has obviously altered the contrast and color levels downward so as to portray the bright Sahara-like expanses of desert sand covering Greenland now as “snow”.
Steve has further doctored the image. The palm trees and bikini girls have been edited out.
And the drinks with the little umbrellas in them.
Barbecue time real soon.

-8C That’s too warm the ice has all melted. That’s just white paint you’re seeing on the golf course. They’re used to the white look and try keep it looking that way even after the summer ice has melted. 🙂
On this day in 1611 Captain Henry Hudson was set adrift in Hudson bay in a small boat with 7 of his crew by mutineers. http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/hudson-set-adrift-by-mutineers
From the current image of Hudson bay http://ice-glaces.ec.gc.ca/Ice_Can/CMMBCTCA.gif it looks very difficult to navigate this time of year – what with all the ice floating around. Yet, in 1611, a time when things were supposed to be much colder, most of Hudson’s crew sailed his ship right on out and back to England.
All fun and games, but I have a serious question. When Greenland was farmland (during the MWP), where did the ice go? Was there more ice somewhere else on earth? Or was the atmospheric content of water vapour higher? Or was there more liquid water in the oceans? If it was in the oceans, were the coast lines different from today (ie. was Manhattan under water?)? It seems to me that another post on Real Science showed that the Vikings mapped the Arctic Coast with alarming accuracy. So, coast lines were the same yet Greenland had substantially less snow and ice on its surface? And if this is so, why are the alarmists telling me that melting Greenland would flood coast lines throughout the earth? Please explain.
I think you have a PhD in the works there!
