Aggie Joke : Antarctica Threatened By Global Warming

Having just passed the one year anniversary of the Dessler permanent Texas drought, another Aggie throws his hat in the ring.

Washington, July 13 (ANI): An international team of researchers has warned that the continent of Antarctica is at risk from human activities and other forces, and suggested environmental management is needed to protect the planet’s last great wilderness area.

Texas A and M University oceanographer Mahlon “Chuck” Kennicutt II, who was included in team, said Antarctica faces growing threats from global warming, loss of sea ice and landed ice, increased tourism, over-fishing in the region, pollution and invasive species creeping into the area.

  1. I can already see the tears of the displaced Antarctic Ind– I mean Native-American Aborigines in the commercials. On the other hand, in another 160 years, there should be enough casinos down there to pay for a few ice-makers.

  2. Kaboom says:

Invasive species? Did someone import polar bears?

    • Brian G Valentine says:

No, parasites like Sue Solomon imported themselves, looking for ozone holes.

When ozone holes started to pop up near the Tropic of Cancer, looking at PSC from the ground at McMurdo wasn’t so chic anymore. People might start getting suspicious about previous claims about CFC damage.

So it became fashionable to start looking for “damage” from “CO2 in the air.” Nothing better to do with their time there, and SOMETHING had to be all wrong there because of humans, the challenge became, guess what it is?

  3. B.C. says:

The only “invasive species” south of the Straits of Magellan are “evironmentalists”. These people really do need to give us a list of the drugs they’re smoking/snorting/injecting/swallowing. At least we’d have a starting point for planning their recovery programs.

  4. Joseph Bastardi says:

Lunacy.. Take a look a the sea ice today, up to over .7

    • Brian G Valentine says:

      Giuseppe, che se dice?

As I understand it, ice has grown an average of 2% per year there, average losses 1%, 1% net over 50 years.

So we know, Vanuatu Islanders aren’t going to be under water within the next three months anyway, Penguins aren’t committing suicide rapidly because they are losing ice – the challenge is now, what is wrong and where?

Where can we look and find things wrong? Where do we go, what do we look for?

    It’s cold, but it’s a dry cold!

  6. Sundance says:

Many climate scientists are displaying the critical thinking skills of the Stepford Wives.

  7. Andy DC says:

Yet they keep sweping the same tired out lies.
