Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), a top House Democrat, is urging the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Republican majority to hold a hearing that explores links between climate change and extreme weather.
The request, spelled out in a letter Friday, is a sign that Democrats and environmentalists hope to translate the recent record-setting heatwaves into political momentum for efforts to battle global warming.
It asks Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) to convene a hearing “on the recent wildfires and extreme weather events the United States has experienced and the role global climate change played in these events.”

A heat wave over 1% of the planet must be due to global climate change. As far as the Colorado fires go, the graphic below shows what happened. Most of the Colorado Front Range received heavy rain during the first week of June. Two places didn’t (red circles below) and they got hit by fires later in the month.
No doubt those red circles were caused by global climate change.
I know this doesn’t sound very nice, but that dude looks deformed. Like one of the creatures from The Hills Have Eyes.
Sometimes the truth is not very nice!
That’s ManBatDonkey fer ya!
Even fotoshop can’t help here.
I’d thought he’s like a misbegotten offspring of a SF style mating of Count Dracula and porky pig. But it was suggested he’s the Phantom of the Opera’s twin brother, scary comparison: http://davart.net/awg/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/henry-waxman.jpg
My Gawd … but you’re right ! He’s taken a severe beating with the ugly-stick.
Must I ? Yes

I wonder if Henry has a clue as to how many deniers he’s creating with his self-righteous stupidity
I don’t want to get too heavy into the appearance-bashing here–that’s really not what we should be about—but I will just say that his reflection speaks for itself….
Now, his political viewpoints–that’s completely open game. To attempt to use millennia-old events such as heat waves & forest fires as ‘proof’ to further an absurd agenda, is just as ‘ugly’ as dismantling a constitution you were sworn to uphold.
Paul Ehrlich removed my tweet.
He tweeted: #climatedisruption? Models predict more extreme weather. Read slowly to Sen Imhofe and other idiot deniers. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/text/nn2012071 …
I tweeted back: Hopefully their predictions will be as accurate as yours.
How does he expect anyone to like him if he has no sense of humor?
I don’t think I could communicate with Mr Ehrlich without stooping to profane and abusive language and it is much better that I do not try
Aaaaaaaaah! Good Gawd!
