Stop believing all the crap being fed to you by the new crop of Bolsheviks.
- Economic conditions are nothing like the 1930s, yet. When Obama and the Dems took over Washington in 2007, unemployment was near historic lows.
- Climate is nothing like the 1930s. Extreme weather in the 1930s was much worse than it is now. 80% of the US was experiencing drought in 1934.
- Romney is nothing like Obama. Romney is a patriotic American. Obama plans to turn the US into USSR II. Holder has already said that Obama plans on a ban of semi-automatic weapons.
A lame-duck Obama with a mandate would be the end of the US as we know it. Stop being brainwashed by left-wing propaganda, and get behind Mitt Romney.
My wife grew up in the Soviet Union. Everything there was based around making society safe. The government would protect you, and all you had to do was keep your head down, do what you were told, drink your Vodka, and never ask any questions.
Amen, Steve.
Re-reading Orwell’s “1984” today is like reading a factual chronicle of modern life in America.
The Ministry of Truth (IPCC, GISS-NASA, NCDC, liberal media, and the rest) just keep re-inventing the past to control the future.
“War is Peace”, “Cold is Hot, Hot, Hot!!”
I find the official rewriting of history to be particularly disturbing. When government starts burning books, you know it is about to hit the fan.
Agreed about the 30s.
I’ve converted the ghcn daily temp into a mysql database and have ranked the years 1933 forward by highest average max temp for the US. (I only used stations that existed in 1933 for all years).
Stations temps are in tenths of a degree C. sum(count) is the number of valid daily min/max measurements for that year.

Eric, you numbers don’t make much sense…at least as presented. 1934 had an avg max temp of 195.58 ? I don’t see how this works.
Anthony, it appears Eric’s numbers have to be divided by 12 months. 195.58 becomes 16.3 which makes more sense.
Below are avg max and min for every station for 1999 and 1998 which didn’t measure in 1933 and 1934. Still not hotter than 33. Hard to see how the processed data is not skewed.

Hi Anthony. The convention in GHCN is tenths of a degree C. So you have to divide by 10.
Extreme weather in the 1930s was much worse than it is now. Huge point to keep in reserve when the bullshit artists start crowing about how extreme the weather is, as they always do.
And I agree that a lame-duck Obama would go to town in an unhindered, unhinged effort to fundamentally transform the United States in every way he can, and he may just assume dictatorial powers if congress doesn’t cooperate, look what he’s done with immigration. Donate$.
Well stated. Thanks Steve…… I just wanted to wish all here a happy 4th and relay my humble offerings. http://suyts.wordpress.com/2012/07/04/happy-independence-day-a-treasure-from-the-world-and-to-the-world/
The message of this nation is getting garbled by these lunatics. We should remind people what the notion behind this nation is about.
Happy independence day to all.
Thanks Steven for the “Get a Grip” message.
Everyone should talk to former residents of the USSR.
And Vote for Romney. Because it is the only sane choice we have left.
Steven,
You’re doing great work exposing the AGW sillines.
On the political side: we’re dealing with a one-party system with two bad branches. Once we’ve established that both candidates are evil, it makes no sense to endorse the evil who is less. The lesser of two evils is still evil.
Why don’t you run?
If you believe in any of the following, Homeland Security considers you a “terrorist”
– Americans who believe their “way of life” is under attack;
– Americans who are “fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation)”;
– People who consider themselves “anti-global” (presumably those who are wary of the loss of American sovereignty);
– Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority”;
– Americans who are “reverent of individual liberty”;
– People who “believe in conspiracy theories that involve grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty.”
The report also lists people opposed to abortion and “groups that seek to smite the purported enemies of God and other evildoers” as terrorists
The end is near for this country. The lunatics have taken over.

By the way, Romney was out front talking about global warming and how it would hurt the planet. Until, of course, he discovered it would cost him votes in the flyover country. Romney is a Rockefeller bought-and-paid-for banker pig.
Is he better than Obama? Sure. But, at this point, who isn’t.
By the way, I’ll bet you he won’t repeal ObamaCare.
I’m astonished that Americans elected a president who hates most of them, but his voice gives Chris Mathews a tingle up his leg – and that is the most important thing.
I agree, Steve, that a lameduck Obama would be a disaster for this country. Fear of declining poll numbers would no longer restrain him. The damage he could do to the faltering U.S. economy and what remains of the Bill of Rights is scary to think about.
By the way, it would not surprise me to see Obama launch a war against Iran prior to the November election to pull in the “rally around the flag” vote.

Last month in a conversation about our choices, I suggested that the US include a spot on the presidential ballet for a vote of ‘No Confidence’ along with Obama and Romney. I think it would probably get the majority of votes. I even went so far as to suggest if indeed the “No Confidence’ wins a majority of electoral college votes, that the election should be cancelled and a new election held within a couple months with all new candidates.
Good piece Steve but in line with Orwells 1984 the warmist are getting some thought police on the case –

Brilliantl! During the 2008 election I could not bring myself to vote for the lesser of two evils (McCain?, Obama?). So I protested by voting for a write-in candidate, Boris Johnson, Lord Mayor of London. My wife voted for Salvador Uribe even though I pointed out that he was ineligible owing to being born in Colombia. Boris Johnson was born in New York.
I was steeling myself to hold my nose while voting for a candidate fielded by one of the major parties but Romney’s record while governing Massachussetts shows that he is “Obama Lite”. Please join me by voting for write-in candidate Boris Johnson, the “Thinking Man’s Idiot”.
The fact that it is now commonly called “the Fourth of July” instead of “Independence Day” should be a clue to what most people think about it.

The original post states that Obama took office in 2007. He actually took office in January, 2009 after being elected in October, 2008. I cannot take at face value anything a person would say who is so completely ignorant of something as basic as the American electoral cycle.
Obama took office in Washington in the US Senate in 2007, when the Dems took over both houses of the US Congress – promising change. They delivered change – unemployment went from 4.7% to over 10%.
Instead of being indignant, how about using your brain?
@ Paige Toussaint “He actually took office in January, 2009 after being elected in October, 2008.”
He was not elected in October, 2008; Obama was actually elected on December 15, 2008.
For all you who are thinking, “What an idiot! He was elected in November!!” I suggest you go read up on the Electoral College.
I am not at all pleased with either choice. They are both plastic, will lie thru their teeth and will say or do anything for a vote. Unfortunately the choice seems to be all about whose hand is in the cookie job rather than about serious change. There was no meaingful change between 2001 and 2007 when Republicans controlled both Congress and the Presidency. Deficits still soared. Health care costs soared. Wall street scam artists went wild as unregulated financial markets turned into a Roman Circus. I can’t stand Obama, but if I vote Republican, my hand will be holding my nose.
Unemployment was 4.7% when Nancy, Harry and Hussein took over.
Romney isn’t all that great but would you rather have massive tax and regulation increases or someone who will fight to lower taxes and reduce the regulatory burden? Continue with Obama and we definitely continue with recession and maybe a worsening economic situation, with Romney at least we’d have a fighting chance at economic recovery.
Andy DC (July 5, 2012 at 6:14 pm),
Amen to that!
I ran for office as a Republican, naive enough to believe the high minded GOP “Manifesto”:
http://morcombe.net/Senate/Integrity.htm
& http://morcombe.net/Senate/Essential.htm
Once I found out what was really going on I resigned from the GOP and became an unaffiliated voter (i.e. dis-enfranchised). Short of a Ross Perot I don’t see much chance to influence the political juggernaut in a positive way. The nearest thing to a Ross Perot we have seen lately is Herman Cain. He was treated shamefully by the corrupt party elites and by the corrupt “Mainstream Media”.
There are times when people need to drop their differences, and defend the country from an imminent threat.
Vote Romney and Republican this year.
OMG YES! Bring back Scooter, the yellowcake and Halliburton. Commonplace corruption that at least could cynically be seen to be in the best interest of some part of the US economy. Obama is sailing straight for the iceberg and intends for the ship to head straight to the bottom.
If I thought it would do any good I might still do that.
Have you ever wondered what Congress would look like if the members were selected by sortition? The process is used for jury selection so why not for public officials? Finally, real democracy with nobody wasting vast sums of money to get themselves elected.
