Searching for Clues to Calamity
By FRED GUTERL
Published: July 20, 2012SO far 2012 is on pace to be the hottest year on record. But does this mean that we’ve reached a threshold — a tipping point that signals a climate disaster?
What a load of crap. Even Hansen has 2012 on track to be the second coldest year since 2004. Where does the New York Times find these morons?

The best source for morons is rentamoron.com. But seriously, this is pure government/media propaganda intended for the uninformed sheeple. Reality is irrelevant.
Stupid analogy from Scheffer in the NYT article. It proves nothing about climate.
You don’t establish a trend by going point to point. Statistically, you need to average out a +/- n values on either side of the value to establish a trend. You also don’t pick two random years that are close together to try to establish where the trend is. Your graph would have been much more honest if you included many data points from different sources, and built an accurate trend line based off of good statistical analysis of the data – and showed your formula.
Also, it looks like your GISS data for 2012 isn’t complete (and doesn’t include all months which will undoubtedly raise the average). The data is for what months? If it is for January to June, it cannot compare to January to December because there is a good bit of summer left.
The article says that this year is “on pace” to be one of the hottest years on record. Not that it already is.
I am actually using about 10 million points. The entire USHCN database.

Steven,
How does using the USHCN database for the US Lower 48 dispel the argument that 2012 GLOBAL temperatures may reach a record high?
I love how you guys bounce around from one insanely clueless comment to another.
http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2012/08/21/hottest-year-ever-update-2/
Speaking of bouncing around, why do you point me to another of your blogs when a simple answer would have sufficed? An answer, btw, I still haven’t received. Why does USHCN data disprove GLOBAL forecasts?
And here I thought that “tipping point” shit went out with “paradigm” and “value-added” and “push the envelope”
Attention New York Times! Advertisers are bailing! Insolvency “tipping point”! Something’s not working!
No lie is too great! If the lies are repeated often enough the Idiots amongst us will begin to believe them, as they have heard them so often that they just must be true! The truth must be repeated far beyond nauseum to counteract the propaganda.
