The climate history deniers at NCDC are about to defile US history and announce that July was the hottest ever in the US – despite the fact that July, 1936 was much hotter.

Compare the area of above normal temperatures
Deviation 1936 2012 +12 5% 0% +10 10% ~0% +8 15% <1% +6 25% 15% +4 65% 60%
This is pretty solid evidence that their data tampering has severely corrupted the temperature record.
Is there a way to determine the “normal” that was subtracted in the ’30’s to get the “departure”?
I don’t know, but any difference in the baseline can’t possibly be more than a few tenths of a degree.

Does anybody read anymore – Steinbeck portrayed the horror and devastation caused by the duts bowl era in an award winning novel of huge stature – I see little evidence of this episode repeating at present despite the media hype.
What the hell is a duts bowl ?
“And the little screaming fact that sounds through all history; repression works only to strengthen and knit the repressed.”
? John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath
How appropriate!
I hoped you would catch that. 😉
By 1936, much of Oklahoma had already evacuated to California after six years of heat and drought.
According to the NCDC, it was mild weather that caused everyone to flee.
It’s good to see Florida looking so nice and cool!!
