One year ago this week, Joe Romm declared that the southwest permanent drought had begun.
Dust Storm Marks Beginning of Southwest’s “Permanent Drought” | The Energy Collective
This important story from Joe Romm deserves an update – avert your eyes if you are squeamish or easily upset.

As usual, Romm had no idea what he was talking about.

Yeah man! No s**t, we’re well p***ed off with the ‘drought’ over here in Blighty, yer know it!
It rained in or around Albuquerque 4 days in a row. Tonight was dry but the temperature was quite cool, I don’t know the numbers but it was several degrees below average, probably more than 10 degrees below. Last night when walking my dogs I saw a few people wearing jackets. This in July in the middle of the permanent SW drought.
And now, the data that show Romm is FOS:

Interestingly, there was no drought in July 2011 when the big dust storm occurred.

Don’t be deceived by the downward red trend line. The trend is flat during the period of rapidly rising CO2 levels and flat since the 1920s. Too bad we don’t have data going back farther.
