Nashville, Tennessee has received almost six inches of rain so far this month, and is listed by NOAA as being under an extreme drought.

NOAA is rapidly becoming a complete joke.
Steve, this is OT but I thought you’d get a chuckle out of it. Apparently, Michael Tobias doesn’t like being called an assclown.

Check out his “support” link. It’s hilarious.
Looking like an extension of the Gore effect is taking place.
The same thing happened in the UK this spring with the drought monitor, I heard they banned hosepipe use and that dune it.
I am about 17 miles from the airport, and have gotten about 5 inches over the past week. This is about the normal rainfall for the entire month. However, that was after nearly two months of no rain. There is no question that we are still down significantly for the year, though we are certainly not in extreme drought now. That could revert rather quickly, however. Now, off to mow my lawn, which has been resting quietly since late May.

The NOAA song
The sun is up, the sky’s not blue
There’s only clouds to spoil the view,
and it’s raining,
raining on my drought
The weatherman says fine today.
He doesn’t know the sun’s gone away,
and it’s raining
raining, raining on my drought
oh, oh misery, oh misery.
What’s gonna become of me.
I tell myself, the blues won’t show
but pretty soon all the floods will flow
Raining, raining on my drought
Oh, oh misery, oh misery
Oh, what’s gonna become of me
The sun is up, the sky’s not blue
There’s only clouds to spoil the view
but it’s raining, raining on my drought
With apologies to the Buddy Holly Estate and all his fans.

We had flooding in Atlanta, but still a major drought.

Extreme drought means that the soil is completely dry. Obviously that is not the case.
I meant that in a sarcastic way even though it didn’t come off that way.
Back in the drought a few years ago I couldn’t even stand to go outside it was so terrible. With the exception of a handful of hot days he hasn’t been that bad this year.
*It* hasn’t been that bad.
Remember, they will redefine what drought means every day to fit the “agenda”…
Some extreme dought showed up here this AM. I was ready to fire up the water maker as my shower buckets/jugs were empty. After a few hrs. of extreme drought, the boats tanks are full, and the 5gal. buckets runneth over. Ain’t AGW great!
I am afraid the corn crop is in for quite a beating from weather over the next two weeks. I am not currently a trader but used to be. Looks like corn futures are going to rise quite a bit more.
From Nashville; for the first time in almost 2 weeks, today I was finally able to play golf without SCUBA gear. We had a brief shower early this morning, but sunny and warm the rest of the day. I am told by Weather.com not to get too comfortable (and perhaps refill the SCUBA tanks) as rain is forecast for the next 10 days.
While we were quite dry a few weeks ago and ponds on the golf course almost completely dry. Today the ponds were full to the brim, standing water in many bunkers. The course staff told me that they are not sure what to do if we get any more heavy rain. The ground could still soak up a little more water, but heavy rains will undoubtedly create flood conditions (like the alarmists were screaming about a couple of years ago).
Yesterday I spent the day laughing my rear off trying to watch golf on television whilst the National Weather Service broke the broadcast every 5 minutes with flash flood warnings.
Sorry, gotta go now, have to go dry out the canoe so I can paddle my way to work in the morning… This severe drought is getting to be a pain in the rear. 🙂
From Channel 5 News – Nashville
“Total rainfall for the month of July: 5.64″ – almost all coming in just one week
July’s rainfall is more 20 times the rainfall received in June.
Saturday’s rainfall amount of 1.68” was the most ever recorded on that date and was the most rainfall received in a single day since January.
The Post lies, but at least doesn’t claim its “droughtier” than the 1930s… only knee-deep in the BS
