USHCN daily data shows that the five months from May-Sep 1958 was almost three degrees hotter than any recent five month period.

Remember when Senator Markey was pushing the cap and trade bill, yes the same cap and trade that ended up being a failed tool of the Kyoto Accord and that did little to lower the CO2 emissions of Kyoto participanst stupid enough to have signed on? His US target (to save the planet) was a 17% reduction from 2006 US CO2 emission levels to be accomplished by the year 2020. Now look at the link showing US CO2 emissions as calculated by the EIA. First off look at the difference from 2006 to 2011 which shows an 8.6% reduction in CO2 emissions. Next notice that Q1 2012 saw another major decline. In fact if the US emissions continues the current trend we will see annual emissions of CO2 at roughly 5.2Gt. which would be a 13.33% reduction since 2006. I don’t know about anyone else but I find the fact that the US will achieve 80% of Markey’s 2020 target by the end of 2012 pretty damn interesting. We are way ahead of the target without cap and trade or a carbon tax. So why are some Dems like Markey still pushing for regressive economic measures like cap and trade or a carbon tax when we are already on a path of greater success than Waxman-Markey sought? Does anyone doubt that had Markey passed cap and trade that he would now be taking bows for the current emissions reductions? The inconvenient truth is that we are reducing CO2 without the financial raping of the US taxpayers by US politicians, UN, Al Gore and his buddies and numerous other rent seeking enterprises that have made millions from other cap and trade scams. I hope we the people aren’t stupid enough to ever be taken advantage of by scam artists like Waxman and Markey seriously again.
