White House Says That The Supreme Court Obamacare Decision Was Wrong

Justice Roberts flip-flopped in support of Obama at the last minute, because Obamacare was a tax. Now the White House says he was wrong because it isn’t a tax.

The White House insisted Sunday the consequence for Americans not having health insurance is a penalty fee, despite the Supreme Court ruling that it is a tax, and said the debate on the Affordable Care Act should finally end.

Apparently the supreme court decision was in error, and Obamacare should be tossed. The debate is over.

White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew said on “Fox News Sunday” that “when the Supreme Court rules” the country “has a final decision” and that the presidential campaigns should focus on the economy and jobs.  “

What we need to do is go forward with the implementation” of the law, Lew said.  He also argued the health care law will not result in a tax increase on the middle class, despite a Congressional Budget Office report that it would result in a roughly $27 million increase over the next 10 years.

There is disturbing evidence now that Roberts actually sided with the conservative justices, but strangely switched sides a month before the announcement. This is eerily similar to many other J.D. s who have found against Obungo and then strangely switched at the last minute. I’m sure the Chicago mob had not a thing to do with it.

    • Ockham says:

If the conservatives would have agreed to simply declare the mandate unconstitutional, instead of throwing out the entire law, Roberts would have been with them.

Has anyone check the Chief Justice’s bank account?

which is why they’re still barking and whining about the Citizens United decision..?

The Constitutional debate is over. The policy discussion has only just begun. Now we see if the taxpayers can make the right decisions in November. Sooner or later, they will realize that nothing is “free,” and you eventually run out of other people’s money. I hope this is 2012, not 2016 or 2020.

Your pre-existing condition of lung cancer from smoking and diabetes and heart disease from obesity (poor diet and exercise habits) should not cost you the same amount of money as a person who led a healthy lifestyle or simply had bad luck due to bad genetics.

Obama and the White House are again spinning that the individual mandate penalty is not a tax. Americans are not that stupid. There are 20 other taxes in PPACA, with 12 of the 21 total affecting the middle class, and over 75% of the burden will be on those making less than $120K/year.

For example, current tax law allows for medical expenses exceeding 7.5% of your income to be tax deductible. Obamacare raises this to 10%. This disproportionately affects the middle class (the rich rarely hit 7.5%, and the poor have Medicaid). I bet most Americans don’t even know about this tax. How about taxes on medical devices? Those are obviously passed on to the patient.

      Dr. John, repeat after me:

If you are fat, you are a victim! If you smoke, drink, do drugs, you are a victim! If you have children out of wedlock, you are a victim! If you get a STD, you are a victim! If you have no education or marketable skills, you are a victim! If you are lazy and don’t like to work, you are a victim! If someone did something mean to your ancestors hundreds or even thousands of years ago, you are a victim! If you are anything but a straight white male you are a victim! And if you are a victim, the Government must not only provide you with food and a roof over your head, but Internet, cable TV, cell phones, excellent health care and a good standard of living!

This is another abuse of the 3rd party payer system where patients have no skin in the game.

Dangerous precedent set with this ruling. Now laws can be passed that would be unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause, yet still be enforced with fines for not complying. What other kinds of insurance are coming down the pike? This is BAD, BAD all the way around! At least they upheld states rights concerning their participation in the program. But that’s a small consolation compared to the main ruling here.

I have found it both instructional and educational to go here* and think of the cost before making a decision. So nice if those in charge would.

Rick Scott Medicaid Decision: Florida Gov. Rejects Obamacare Subsidies

Daniela Quintanilla in Politics Health Care 2 hours ago

Just when you thought the health care battle was over, Governor Rick Scott (R-FL) was the first governor to announce that he will not accept approximately $1.9 billion dollars in Medicaid funds allocated to his state by the Affordable Care Act. The full act does not take effect until January 1, 2014, unless it is repealed before then and states are not required to begin implementation before the November election. Scott is opting the state out of the two optional provisions of the law which are the Medicaid entitlement expansion and the building of insurance exchanges.
