1908 Hurricane Hit The US In May

Hurricane Two Category 1 hurricane

This hurricane hit the U.S. in May, causing minor effects. It was one of only 3 May hurricanes during the 20th century in the Atlantic Basin; the others were Able in 1951 and Alma in 1970.

It marked the earliest date for the season’s second hurricane to form in any Atlantic season on record, and it was the earliest hurricane to hit the U.S. in recorded history.

According to Hansen, the previous year was the coldest on record, and 1908 was one of the coldest.

We are now into August of NOAA’s hottest year, and no hurricane strikes.

One Response to 1908 Hurricane Hit The US In May

Observations of climate feedbacks over 2000-2010 and comparisons to climate models

Finds that feedbacks in response to climate variations during the period 2000-2010 have been calculated using reanalysis meteorological fields and top-of-atmosphere flux measurements. Over this period, the climate was stabilized by a strongly negative temperature feedback (~ ?3 W/m2/K); climate variations were also amplified by a strong positive water vapor feedback (~ +1.2 W/m2/K) and smaller positive albedo and cloud feedbacks (~ +0.3 and +0.5 W/m2/K, respectively).
This is, of course, in direct contradiction to the computer models.
Hansen has his work cut-out to adjust this reality.
