I remember that video from the week it came out.
It would stand to reason that the accumulative effect of 2 years of La Nina would cause the cold air trough coming down from Canada into the Central United States to be stronger.
But, of course, hateful global warming believers will show up any moment and demonize everything on this page.
Let’s make it clear that JB did not include this past winter in his predictions…I think. So, let’s start judging his predictions with this winter.

Seen where he is seeing a big shift in eastern pacific water temps, and he thinks this winter could be even colder than he currently expects. gulp…….
Not good news for AGW nutcases.
Last Winter the US. was under the influence of a One Solar/Earth Year ‘Dry’ Cycle. It was Cold, but not ‘Wet’ (ie Snow) This is the same ‘Dry’ Cycle that has just been replaced over the US. by a Two Year ‘Wet’/Normal Period. (thirty degrees longitude/month with the Westward orbit
of the Earth,s Magnetic Field.) The next Two Winters in the US. will be cold and ‘snowy’, before a Five Year ‘Dry’ Cycle (drought) affects the US. from August 2014.
This was NOT predicted by Joe Bastardi. Nor does it have anything to do with ENSO or PDO ‘flips’ It was, however predicted by Alex S. Gaddes in his work ‘Tomorrow’s Weather’ 1990. An updated version of this work (with ‘Dry’ Cycle forecasts to 2055,) is available as a free pdf from [email protected]

The cold weather last winter missed the US. Will probably be a different story this winter, as I have faith in Joe.
Winter in Michigan in 2011-2012? There was none! As I recall, there wasn’t much winter in most parts of the U.S.
PDO was COLD in the north Pacific this past winter. The Bering Sea region and throughout Alaska was cold AND snowy, including record ice. Coincidence? I think not.
The AMO appears to have leveled off in recent years, and once it descends to it’s cold phase, possibly in the next 5 years, we’ll get a reprieve from the Warmologists on the Arctic meltdown, then we’ll have to endure their drivel on the Antarctic meltageddon which was supposed to warm more than the Arctic, but did just the opposite.
Mark Serreze said the Bering Sea ice was just a fluke in 2010. In 2012 it was record ice, but oddly Serreze isn’t bloviating on this second “fluke”.
I’m still wondering why Cryosat did not make ice thickness data public for this past winter nor compare this summer with last. The last update I could find was through Feb 2011.

I’ll place my bets on Joe Bastardi. Joe is one of the smartest Meteorologist in the world today! One thing I know for sure about Joe Bastardi. The man works harder on his work than 99% of all Meteorologist. He has a true passion for what he does and it shows. Best thing all of you should do: Listen to the man, he is right!!!
