This is what I am driving these days. The kids have all moved out and I don’t have to shuttle anyone around now.
1000 miles per month at infinity miles per gallon
200 miles per month at 15 miles per gallon

Funny you just posted that, as I just mentioned your biking in my email to you.
I saw that. I wasn’t sure who hit the send button first!
Julienne,
Did you attend Columbine High School?
I did…you?
No, but I have a kid at Heritage High School.
“1000 miles per month at infinity miles per gallon.”
Per gallon of what?
I was gonna say. I honestly don’t usually get more than a mile or two out of a gallon of beer. Funny how that works.
And as Archie Bunker would tell you, it was only rented anyway. 😉
We were driving back from Ohio yesterday and pulled up behind this pickup.

That’s a cracker. Boy did I chuckle. I can just imagine someone deliberately driving into the back just to smash obama’s face in.
Excellent!
I gave him a thumbs up of course.
Let’s figure this out for cost-effectiveness:
1) 1 gallon of water, dispensed in quart bottles from the cheapest vendor I could find in the supermarket, costs $2.00. I figure you need to consume 1 gallon every 40 miles. SO, 1000 miles costs $50.00 per month
2) The Jeep uses 13.5 gallons. At $3.60/gallon, this costs $48.60.
Using AGW logic in reverse, using your Jeep saves $1.40 per month.

I power my bicycle exclusively with foie gras from geese I fatten in a small trailer that I tow around behind the bicycle to save money.
The calories to propel the bicycle have to come from somewhere too. So the bicycle does not truly get an equivalent of infinity miles per gallon; it is closer to 1,000 miles per gallon (assuming 31,000,000 calories per gallon and a conservative estimate of 32 kilocalories per mile biked). And for those that consider their time worth anything the time savings of getting to the destination faster can cost more than the savings. Then there is the cost of the extra laundry.
Oh, man, I would love finding a food that only cost $3.70/31,000kcal.
I hate you French-loving, tight-wearing, hippie bicyclists! Stay the heck off the roads if you don’t pay maintenance taxes! The scourge of the streets if you ask me.
What a stupid comment
Steven, It’s probably a green weenie that couldn’t pass you in his Prius. 😆
good on you Steve…I’ll be pushing 4000 km by next week sometime, no where near 1000 miles/month, but my rides are basically confined to the evening rides in the foothills here.
Fantastic. I can’t wait til my own kids are gone and I can calculate my travel expense in miles/cheeseburger .
My daughter moved out 8 years ago, but I still have a part time job as her taxi driver!
Can’t help myself.
NOAA forecast for Chicago:
“Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.”

This, as it is getting dark(er) at 2:30 in the afternoon, and the remnants of Isaac begin to impinge.
Doesn’t anyone look out the window anymore ?
Want to talk about football, Chelsea ?
You mean Falcao?
this one ?

Yep.
I scored one goal at lunch and make a perfect assist which my right wing flubbed from two feet out.

I’ve obtained secret video of the Airforce One redesign that Obama is implementing to meet the mileage standards that he wants to set for aircraft.

I’d hate to see him chuck a belt at that speed, coulda been horrible!

I don’t know how many here read about Obama’s jab at Romney about preferring steam powered automobiles. It was classic Obama cluelessness with Obama completely forgetting that he is a big fan of the 10th century technology behind wind power. Apparently he is also too stupid to know that other power generation technology that he supports also relies on steam power like the mirrored solar collector power plants and nuclear power. This is what happens when you grow up spending all your time reading Marx and Lennin and taking drugs instead of reading books on math and science.
Obama has high mileage transport too. 🙂

Maybe they’ll replace the donkey in their logo with that. 😆
I use classic Coca-Cola as bike fuel.
Glucose, Caffeine, H2O and ……………………….CO2.
Rode here: http://goo.gl/maps/gTCYU
then stared at a blue moon & then got wasted on cheap beer & sangria. It was a good night.
You do pay for the miles on the bike. You do eat.
