Market hunting was driving some animals toward extinction. That is about the time that sportsmen got together and urged legislators to protect the animals through the science of wildlife management. In Colorado, elk went from a few hundred to over 300,000 today. The North American model of wildlife management has healthiest herd of animals any where on the planet. Africa should adopt the model.
