They Just Don’t Make Droughts Like They Used To

The current extreme drought in Colorado is typified by lush green vegetation, daily rain and floods. In the old days, droughts used to involve dust and dead things.

That was also the days when hurricanes used to actually have hurricane force winds, and tropical storms were actually storms.

I long for those halcyon days of yesteryear. When droughts were characterized by dryness, and wet conditions were, umm wet. I remember watching ‘Hurricane’ Irene impacting the North Carolina coast with max sustained winds of 57MPH. NOAA insisted it was a hurricane, as if I was a complete Dodo.

Time has gone by, and I am a recovering Dodo. Yet, the news flowing from NOAA, and GISS are confusing me. The old data has been replaced by new alarming high temp data. I guess they made a boo boo. I am pleased that the ‘new breed’ of scientists is correcting the old mistakes. Will there be more corrections in the future? I suppose the answer is: only if necessary.

The National Hurricane Center said that somewhere within Irene’s circulation there were hurricane force winds. They just somehow did not find any of the reporting stations. Sounds a bit lame to me.

These doom and gloomers are peddlers of bull about droughts, storms, and most obviously, temperatures. On temperatures, there is a strong story on the New Zealand skeptics taking the warmists to court over the fraudulent NIWA “official” temperature record, headlined: John O’Sullivan: Courtroom Chaos as New Zealand Skeptics Rout Government Climatists. Turns out the temperature record was fabricated and bogus, and this has wide implications for climate “science” generally. This NZ story, in combination with the recent Watts et al paper about North American temperatures, you begin to get a picture of the whole warmist illusion starting to fall apart. Indeed, I start to wonder, while we certainly have had warming after the Little Ice Age, but has it been just the most minimal amount? I’ll await further returns.

Yeah, and it was also a time where the US actually got hit by major hurricanes, we are currently in the longest such period without them since reliable hurricane tracking began in 1949.

If Ernesto hits the US as a hurricane, the media will go insane, and the AGW nutcases will come out in full force. They just don’t make journalists and accurate reporting like they used to. Sigh…….

They don’t make glass like they used to either. Apparently.
