Madrid : March 11, 2004

Eight and a half years ago, the Religion Of Peace blew up train stations in Madrid, killing 200 people and injuring 2,000.

The Prime Minister was in a close election battle, and  immediately denied that the attack was an Islamic terrorist attack. He lost the election.

Obama tried the same trick today, claiming that it was a “spontaneous mob”

And don’t forget about apologizing for our First Amendment!

It wasn’t a spontaneous mob, but it wasn’t riotous muslims either. Otherwise something would have happened elsewhere, not just in Libya and Egypt.

It’s been a show of force aimed at increasing the political strength of one faction.

Hummmm, Christianity has had its fair share of Zealots who have perpetrated outrages that were every bit as crappy as anything the Islamic zealots can come up with. So maybe this perverse American habit of describing Islam as a ‘Religion of Peace’ is maybe somewhat disingenuous ?

The fact is that adherents of the Muslim faith do tend to get Irate when goaded by (among others) so called Pastors seeking publicity ? Maybe we should be more in tune with Jefferson’s mantra of not being bothered by what ever religion one’s neighbour chooses to follow ? and maybe even ponder on whether or not Mr Jones and others may be testing the limits of ‘Free Speech’ ?

Maybe you should consider moving to China.

Is Toto back in Kansas now ? 🙂

Being a Limey, I dont have a dog in this particular fight, so you’re going to have to explain why China would be a good place to practice Logic.

      • Eric Barnes says:

Well you already have a taste of the state limiting your speech then. Good. Might as well go all the way and let the state have complete control of your thoughts. If some is good, more must be better.

If you live in england then you can’t even legally butcher your own chickens and your government doesn’t allow you to defend yourself . What a pathetic bunch of losers you brits have become . You are controlled in about everything and I guess you must like it because you do nothing about it. The independant people left over two hundred years ago and it looks like they took the bravery gene with them . And don’t forget who pulled your asses out of two wars at the cost of lives and fortunes . Yea , just keep kissing up to your lords and peers and queens and princes you pathetic bunch of serfs .

Ah, the defense of murder because of hurt feelings.

Tell me you didn’t reference ‘Jefferson’s mantra’ to defend Islam. You mean a neighbor such as Israel?

Ever ponder that if you argue that the limits of one’s free speech are to be determined by another’s religious sensitivities, then you’re argument is absurd?

I believe the standard model of the extent of ‘Free Speech’ in the good old USA, uses the shouting of Fire in a Crowed theatre as the alagorical limit ? so at what point, or rather at how many Deaths, would you consider that ‘Pastor’ Jones should have his ability to be incendiary curtailed ??

Maybe You are suggesting that ‘Free Speech’ has no limits ? and considering that such a state of affairs has Never existed, even in the USA, would that not be an Absurd argument ??

This is why we left the old world, the people are sheep, and believe what they are fed by the spooners of pablum.

Fire, when actually present, can kill, without human bias, without human opinion or human religious belief. Humans decide to kill or not. Trying to compare the two is again, absurd. Can limits due to tangibles be imposed? Yes, and they have been. Should limits due to opinions & sensitivities be imposed? Never. Especially when the opinions are radical. Radicalism cannot be allowed to dictate expression.

The blame for any deaths brought on by a pastor, no matter how ignorant, lies only with those who killed. Absolving guilt from the true guilty and projecting it elsewhere is simply
dishonest. Or, you believe that, if your words were to anger me enough, that you would share the blame if I run out and kill a stranger? Well, you’d be wrong. It would be my choice, & I alone should pay the consequences. Your right to repeat what angered me shouldn’t be taken from you.

Sorry, but there is no comparison here. Please don’t make me rub your face in it.

OT, but Middle Easterners only have about average IQs (90 being the average), so pretty much the only worthwhile thing they can do is blow themselves up. Or complain.

And here atheists complain about Christians being intolerant.

  5. philjourdan says:

The Spanish government at the time was fighting the terrorists. The attack caused a capitulation of the Spaniards to the terrorists, and is the primary reason they are the “S” in PIIGS now.

Obama is not fighting the terrorists, he is fighting FOR the terrorists. I hope that there is no parallel between the 2 as 4 more years of Obama will make us the US in PIIGS US.

Actually, NO. Both England and Australia have laws against hate speech. The US does not. Who defines hate speech? Who ever is in control. So it is very subjective. And that is why the US does not control it.

And the US can also say that a carbon tax raises prices. Try that in Oz.

    • Fanakapan says:

Forget about So Called Hate speech, I’m talking about the limit to Free Speech that every country has.

At this time a certain video, promoted by ‘Pastor’ Jones and funded by unknown others is having a Direct and Detrimental affect upon the National Interests of the USA. But you apparently refuse to admit that Free Speech has any limits in the USA ? and that anybody should be free to damage the USA in anyway they please ??

      • leftinbrooklyn says:

This ugly absolution of the guilty. Not good. Videos do not burn embassies. Videos do not behead. When they do, then we can start blaming them.

You’re not a proponent of free speech, we get it. Sometimes it takes courage to defend it. You lack that. We get it. But demanding that it continue, even when it results in the violent Pavlov’s Dog reactions by lunatics, is the whole point of it. Otherwise, you live like those lunatics.

      • philjourdan says:

Every country EXCEPT the US. The limits some often attach to the US is not a limit at all, since the speech in question has crossed over to another realm. The delineation of where your rights end and mine begin.

It is easy to support free speech when the subject is one you agree with. It shows the strength of character of the person when they support it for speech they do not agree with.

IN this country (as our laws do not apply to any other country), yes, a person is perfectly free to call the US anything it wants. Whether that would damage the country is open to opinion. Those who claim it would incite others to actions detrimental to this country are liberals who refuse to accept another principal called responsibility. In other words, I cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do by speaking. Yet that is the principal you are trying to forward here.

It matters not if some clown creates a piece of crap called Piss Christ, or writes a book called Satanic Verses. Neither forced a soul to action. Those who took the action did so on their own volition.

So one of the premier blogs for revealing the Scam that is global Warming, and thats the best you can manage ???

If you are going to live in the past, you might as well reside there. Your logic, taken to its conclusion, dictates that since Cain killed Abel, no one can advocate against violence because we all came from violence. That fails on many levels, not the least of which is the concept of personal responsibility.

If you want to rend your garments and beat yourself because your ancient ancestors did an injustice, then that is all you are capable of doing.
