This drought may never break
IT MAY be time to stop describing south-eastern Australia as gripped by drought and instead accept the extreme dry as permanent, one of the nation’s most senior weather experts warned yesterday.
“Perhaps we should call it our new climate,” said the Bureau of Meteorology’s head of climate analysis, David Jones.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

I wonder how much that forecast was responsible for flooding in Brisbane a couple of years ago when the operatators forgot the dams we not only for water storage but also flood control.
In the October prior to the flood, both sides of Politics were bickering about how much water should remain in the main dam, Wivenhoe. Some of us however were arguing that it needed to be significantly drained, as La Nina was approaching full swing and historically that has meant a lot of rain for Brisbane.
What happened was to a large extent predictable (as an event yes, but not in detail like the way the water hit Toowoomba and the Bremer River)
Yes, I believe that Forecast and ones like it have a very direct relationship to the tomfoolery practised leading up to the flood, and for the subsequent inaction and damage.
Yet the People still believe Tim Flummery. Go figure…

It’s official: Australia no longer in drought

That’s funny because every single winter in the northeast I am heard saying: “There is no way that this winter is ever gonna end …”

Ah yes, my favourite subject!
Steve, the man was misquoted, didnt you know? Everywhere he posts in Australia, he is saying he is misquoted.
I did pose the question to him, if 6% in the Murray Darling Basin was rampant climate change in action, vai the climategate email to Phil Jones, then what on Earth is the 98% its currently at? This basin crosses 4 states and is absolutely enormous. Of course i am still yet to recieve an answer, and he is busy now sprouting the fact that it hasnt rained in Alice Springs in 147 days. Never mind its in the middle of the desert, or they had 2 years of record rainfall!
Billions of dollars wasted on desalination plants moth balled because the dams are now full again. The construction of one in Victoria extensively delayed due to long periods of heavy rain…
yeah…and sth aus copped cost blowouts late startup and then mothballed BUT everyone copping big price hikes for water that isnt even produced used etc, on top of outrageous standard prices rising again some 100% they said this year.
theres a young chap called TOPHER he has some short clips re water and other aussie issues.
steve, you might like to view and link? a searh for TOPHER should do it.
