Fort Collins has warmed twenty degrees in the past four hours. If the current trend continues, temperatures will be 170 degrees by tomorrow morning.
Note that I said “if” which according to Appell et. al. makes it OK to say really, really stupid stuff.
David Appell is most entertaining, but seems to forget some things. While jousting with him over at his blog with questions he appeared to sidestep, I had to remind him that he didn’t answer the same questions the previous year right here at Real Science: http://davidappell.blogspot.com/2012/05/heartland-institute-tries-apologizing.html?showComment=1338053489827#c5717927622935911259
Funny thing, Appell apparently pulled a “Richard Muller” with a claim of being a skeptic years ago.
He stopped replying you at his own blog after you nailed his sorry lying ass.
Where is Mr. Appel? I miss his stupid, condescending, evasive comments.
He’s at the DNC.
He should have plenty of people to commiserate with there.
Hansen’s favorite phrase-
“If I fit this small trend with an exponential curve, then I conclude that Earth will become Venus.”
Is that the crib notes version of Hansen’s PhD thesis?
after having one of our better summers ever, i have noticed the days getting shorter and cooler now…I think with this trend, we might be heading for winter soon and if that continues, who knows where next spring will be at…/sarc….
It’s still hot and muggy down here. Please pass some of your cooler air down this way.
As near as I can tell, David does not need to use “if” to say stupid stuff. He seems to have quite a knack for doing it. Being stupid has never seemed to be very beneficial to me. I suppose everyone has to excel in something. Different strokes for different folks?
Trying to discuss actual science with David is about as easy as trying to discuss Quantum Electrodynamics with a 12th century Trappist monk would have been. His universe and ours are neither parallel nor intersecting. Our words and his don’t quite mean the same even though they are spelled and pronounced the same. If one continues a discussion with him, it descends recursively into increasingly irrelevant and fine detail until all connection with reality is lost. It is like getting trapped inside a Mandelbrot equation without a reset button. One could almost conclude he does it on purpose.
Personally, I would send his posts to the bit bucket without bothering to read them. Clearly, I am not as benevolent as some.
Actually you’re allowed to say “If” or “could” then anything that follows is fine.
If warmists were twice as intelligent as they are stupid, they’d only be half as foolish as they are now!
Quote from Dave to me, a couple of years ago:
“You’re stupid! The Second Law of Thermodynamics applies to an isolated system only.”
This is what you’re dealing with when you try to “reason” with these people. I don’t even try any more.
“Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.”
Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955)
Aristophanes allegedly said “Ignorance can be cured, but stupidity is forever”.
“Stupid is as Stupid does,” Forrest Gump.
