THE NORTH POLE
CAUSES OF CHANGE OF CLIMATE.
Is the North Pole going to melt entirely? Are the Arctic regions warming up, with prospect of a great climatic change in that part of the world? Science (says “Popular Science”) is asking these questions. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas around Spitzbergen and the eastern Arctic all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, with hitherto unheard-of high temperatures on that part of the earth’s surface.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

When it does, we can go waterskiing !!!
While the men of old noted that the climate was going through a warm cycle , whether they knew it was a cycle or not , I doubt they were complaining about the improved conditions in which to ply their trades .
I stumbled upon this report about some intrepid explorers who trekked to the pole during the minimum of 2007.

Let’s use the Northern Passages as a measure of warming. They touted the recent opening of a passage as proof of warming. They claimed it to be the first time in 100s of years. They were used extensively during WWII because THEY WERE OPEN!
So, out of the last 112 years, one or both of the Northern passages have been open in 72 of those years. Basically, the passages are open more than they are closed.
On the basis of half a dozen years the jump before and after winter 1918/19 is about 8°C. Comparing only January/February of 1917 and 1918, with January/February of 1919 and 1920 the temperature jump is almost plus 10°C.
