Snow in North Iceland in early September is not unheard of but snowfall of two to three meters overnight at this time of year—when the sheep are still in highland pastures—is highly unusual. Coupled with blackouts across the region, from Blönduós in the west to Þórshöfn in the east, due to icing of power lines and we’re looking at an unprecedented situation.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Here’s what I don’t get: they want to blame the (potentially) bad winter coming, on lack of ice in the Arctic… so what was causing those extremely cold winters in the late 70s (when I was in college), and Arctic ice was then at it’s highest ‘on record’?
Stockholm residents enjoy six ‘summer’ days in 2012
According to the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), the Swedish capital only experienced six days in which temperatures exceeded 25 degrees Celsius between 1 June and 19 August. The figure marks a significant cool down from the 28 days of summer seen during the same period last year.

Meteorologists attribute the particularly cool summer to wet conditions as well as a heat wave in the Mediterranean and southern European region over much of the season.
They don’t have that much CO2 in Sweden this year I suppose.
do any of you morons have a clue what you are talking about? the melting of the northern ice cap is creating huge storms in the north. their weather patterns are totally off, for two years straight. climate change is part of whats happening, with freak storms being a significant problem. go watch some wrestling or something suited to your low intelligence level. stupid people lipping off thinking they are experts? please.
Susan, you are stupider than dog shit
You’re so uplifting. Please continue.
Basically you are saying; But now Climate Change aka Man Made Global Warming is melting the ice cap and changing the weather patterns creating the same “huge storms” that is attributable to breaking up the Ice pack in the first place.
I’d bet that you’d also say; Before AGW it was too cold for it to snow in Iceland early in September.
These huge unnatural freakish storms (somewhere) “in the north” sound scary.
I think this may be the year that the chickens come home to roost ’cause it’s too darn cold in the northern hemisphere.
Susan’s shift key isn’t working…..

The climate is still warming significantly in Iceland. This is a fact, despite freak events like this.
