“Ice Cold Gold” — a six-part series about American gold miners prospecting in Greenland, will debut on April 21 and follow eight men who struggle to survive while attempting to strike it rich.
“Greenland is the beast,” said executive producer David Carey, who fell in love with the icy continent while filming a documentary there in 2008.
“I do anything I can to get back there.”
The new show, filmed last summer in the capital city of Nuuk, and a remote area of fjords known as Storø, is a place so off the beaten path that it is believed humans have never set foot in it.
Climate change has melted ice that has sat undisturbed for millions of years, forcing some of the world’s oldest rock to be exposed to the elements for only a few months a year.”

It’s vegetated, and about 20 miles from Nuuk. Being vegetated, it was not recently deglaciated.
