Yes, unchecked warming is likely to prove the greatest scandal in U.S. history.

Worse Than Watergate: Growing Scandal Brings Nation To The Brink Of Ruin | ThinkProgress

Weird, I went out for a long bike ride this morning in the mountains, and everything seemed just like it always does. Somehow I missed all the devastation.

Global warming brings freezing conditions in Italy’s Giro

Exactly. It’s the same as it ever was.
Where have I heard that before? In this circa 1980 Talking Heads song. The warmists got to be sweating now like those in this video, they’ve got to be thinking “this is not my -flooded- house, this is not the blood curdling devastation that we have been whining about for decades,” no, because.. it’s the same as it ever was:

  3. Billy Liar says:

When Romm was talking about ‘the growing scandal bringing the US to the brink of ruin’ I think he was referring to the ‘cash trains’ supplying grants to the Climate Change Industry.

    • GregO says:

Clear case of Romulan psychological projection. His entire Man-Made-Global-Warming cash cow is on the brink of ruin. That’s about all – planet earth is fine.

  4. Chewer says:

It’s been looking like an Alfred Hitchcock movie up here in the interior of Alaska for the past 6 days with migratory birds of all stripes dropping dead from freezing cold and no ground to feed from.
232 days for the 2012/2013 snow season and record cold temperatures does not correlate with the AGW hypothesis.
When the twisted and psychotic AGW asswipes bring up C02 induced doom & gloom, people need to tell them to STFU.

  5. kirkmyers says:

What silly nonsense. And Romm shows a fabricated temperature graph that bears no resemblance to any of the major temperature data sets. He and McKibben are two of the most comical loons in the global warming (aka “climate change”) movement. Yet both have attracted a band of loyal followers who have fallen absolutely in love with their half-baked pronouncements of doom. It’s sad, very sad that people can be so easily bamboozled by consensus scientists (skepticism has always been at the very core of scientific breakthroughs).

To all the Romm disciples: Earth’s climate has been “changing” for 4.5 billion years. Natural variability — solar activity, ocean oscillations and volcanism — is king. The human impact on global temperatures is so minuscule it’s not even detectable.

There has been no statistically significant warming for at least 17 years, according to the various data sets:

For RSS the warming is not significant for over 23 years.
For RSS: +0.127 +/-0.134 C/decade at the two sigma level from 1990
For UAH the warming is not significant for over 19 years.
For UAH: 0.146 +/- 0.170 C/decade at the two sigma level from 1994
For Hadcrut3 the warming is not significant for over 19 years.
    For Hadcrut3: 0.095 +/- 0.115 C/decade at the two sigma level from 1994
For Hadcrut4 the warming is not significant for over 18 years.
    For Hadcrut4: 0.095 +/- 0.110 C/decade at the two sigma level from 1995
For GISS the warming is not significant for over 17 years.
For GISS: 0.111 +/- 0.122 C/decade at the two sigma level from 1996

    From Geocraft.com:

Of the 186 billion tons of carbon from CO2 that enter earth’s atmosphere each year from all sources, only 6 billion tons are from human activity. Approximately 90 billion tons come from biologic activity in earth’s oceans and another 90 billion tons from such sources as volcanoes and decaying land plants.

CO2 is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. Plants absorb CO2 and emit oxygen as a waste product. Humans and animals breathe oxygen and emit CO2 as a waste product. Carbon dioxide is a nutrient, not a pollutant, and all life– plants and animals alike– benefit from more of it. All life on earth is carbon-based and CO2 is an essential ingredient. When plant-growers want to stimulate plant growth, they introduce more carbon dioxide

At 380 parts per million [Now 400 ppm] CO2 is a minor constituent of earth’s atmosphere — approximately 4/100ths of 1% of all gases present. Compared to former geologic times, earth’s current atmosphere is CO2- impoverished.

Total human contributions to greenhouse gases account for only about 0.28% of the “greenhouse effect” (Figure 2). Anthropogenic (man-made) carbon dioxide (CO2) comprises about 0.117% of this total, and man-made sources of other gases ( methane, nitrous oxide (NOX), other misc. gases) contributes another 0.163% .

Approximately 99.72% of the “greenhouse effect” is due to natural causes — mostly water vapor and traces of other gases, which we can do nothing at all about. Eliminating human activity altogether would have little impact on climate change.

  6. No Substitute for Victory says:

But kirkmyres, that is what the warmist want, the total elimination of all human activity. :<(
Chewer has it right, telling the warming believers to STFU, in other words isolating and shaming them is what is needed. They'll never quit until they are forced to speak in hushed tones about their loony ideas. This worked on loons like the triple K. It'll also work on Hanson's loons.
