Saudi, Pakistani Chemical Engineers Scoping Out The US Water Supply

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, seven people were caught trespassing at the Quabbin Reservoir.

State Police say the five men and two women are from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, and “cited their education and career interests” for being in the area. The men told police they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates.

The Quabbin, in Belchertown, is one of the country’s largest man-made public water supplies. Boston’s drinking water comes from the Quabbin and the Wachusett Reservoirs.

  1. Bill says:

Wow. They just happened to travel from various cities around the country to look at the reservoir at midnight.

  2. gator69 says:

Yes, I often go to outdoor sites after midnight when I want to study them. Who needs sunlight?

  3. R. de Haan says:

They were going for a swim. Don’t worry.

  4. kimo says:

hope someone tested the water after this,at midnight rings all sorts of bells,I think they should have been detained at least.

  5. gator69 says:

Sure, we let the Arab midnight swimmers stay, but not these folks…

“The U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Obama Administration’s decision to deny asylum to a German homeschooling family.

The Romeike family fled their German homeland in 2008 seeking political asylum in the United States – where they hoped to home school their children. Instead, the Obama administration wants the evangelical Christian family deported.”

Skeeter hates it when kids are not properly indoctrinated, and hates it even more when ‘parents’ try and take children out of the arms of the all caring state.

They were preparing for a class reunion! Just scoping out the best sites to hold one! They attended different schools together during different years! 😉

  7. slimething says:

They must be Conservative Jews supporting Israel.
    @gator99
I’ve been following that for some time. It is disgusting what Obama did, but it is part of his ideology.

  8. philjourdan says:

PROFILE! Bad people! Profiling them for being moon skinny dippers!

  9. jimash1 says:

““there was no evidence that the seven were committing any crime beyond the trespassing.”

All seven were allowed to leave and will be summonsed to court for trespassing. The FBI is investigating and routine checks of public water supplies have been increased following the incident.
The seven individuals currently live in Amherst, Cambridge, Sunderland, Northampton and New York City. Police have not released their names because a court date has not been set.”

    Oh my.

  10. The Iconoclast says:

If only they had shaped a piece of bread to look like a gun, then we’d have had them…

  11. david says:

They just let them go because why? They had no current means on their person to spike the water supply. Did they search their phone and internet history, their background etc. If it was seven ex military tea party members with chemical engineering backgrounds would they be released, or would that be national news already?

Imagine what kind of reaction say Iran would have, if six or seven chemical enginners from American were snooping around a reservoir at midnight.

  12. Bruce says:

I’m always amazed at people worrying about the water supply reservoirs. But having spent many years teaching chemistry to chemical engineers, well…

There is so much water in reservoirs such as that one that adding anything will be a proverbial drop in a bucket. Even a tonne of something highly toxic would have zero effect if dissolved into it. The concentration would be ‘way too low to do anything at all to anyone.

And forget about cholera or typhoid, the iron/aluminium purification step will take them right out again.

    • Andy Oz says:

That’s correct. Humans are more at risk from venomous spiders and snakes than from someone trying to poison a water reservoir. Still, it’s pretty weird behaviour for Arabs and Pakistanis to be visiting a dam at midnight. Did the cops take photos of the people?

    • One gram of PO-210 can kill a million people.

      • Bruce says:

Removed very effectively by ferric ion precipitation, and almost certainly also by aluminium hydroxide precipitation. I think most water purification is iron based in your country. Ours is aluminium based.

Were any of them born in Kenya?

Ahhhha the comments at the link are pretty amusing.
