the motor party journeyed to 270 miles north of the Arctic Circle, prepared for freezing weather. To their continued astonishment the temperature was never’ less than 90 degrees in the shade. The intention was to reach the Arctic Ocean, but 40 miles of marsh country on the coast prevented this

Additionally, America’s worst school massacre occurred in 1927
The Bath School disaster is the name given to three bombings in Bath Township, Michigan, on May 18, 1927, which killed 38 elementary school children, two teachers, four other adults and the bomber himself; at least 58 people were injured. Most of the victims were children in the second to sixth grades (7–11 years of age [1]) attending the Bath Consolidated School. Their deaths constitute the deadliest mass murder in a school in U.S. history and the fourth-deadliest non-military massacre in U.S. history

Property damage in 1927 averaged $1,000,000,000.
In today’s terms that is approx $23,529,800,000 or in other words, over $23 billion. The population at the time was one third what it is today, so if comparing apples to apples the weather driven property damage came in at around $75 billion in todays terms.
