Government Explains That Their Unconstitutional Activities Are Legal

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on Saturday said media reporting this week about government surveillance activities amounted to “reckless disclosures” that could hand terrorists a playbook to foil detection.

He said the surveillance measures are legal and said the reporting lacked full context:

“In particular, the surveillance activities published by The Guardian and The Washington Post are lawful and conducted under authorities widely known and discussed, and fully debated and authorized by Congress,” Clapper wrote in a statement. “Their purpose is to obtain foreign intelligence information, including information necessary to thwart terrorist and cyber attacks against the United States and its allies.”

Terrorists are ALWAYS sponsored by a state. When they are not state sponsored we would call them criminals, serial killers, or drug gangs or whatever. The purpose of terror is ALWAYS to intimidate a population. In fact for the NSA and DHS the ticket to an increase in their powers is terror. Do they sponsor terrorists themselves or do they rely on other states sponsoring terrorism? It doesn’t matter. When they sponsor it themselves they surely schedule it better; but the end result, more power for NSA and DHS, is the same.

Do not blame obamba, blame the Patriot Act and blame most of your useless and therefore dangerous congress people. Without reading it first and understanding it they approved it. The monster has 2 wings. With only one wing it can never fly.

It is interesting. Obama’s main defense for the multiple scandels is now “incompetence”, being detached and not knowing what is going on. I find that hard to believe, but anything is possible. It does seem that both Bush and Obama have both basically been puppets, with others pulling the strings. Neither spent much time actually doing their job.

But it was OK for the NYT to tell OBL that US security was tracking his cell phone.

James Clapper … this is what happens when you don’t have your afflictions medically attended to.

Oh yeah? What about the curerently defunct Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka?

Segregation, slavery and the removal of jews from public office in Germany was legal as well. Your point, Clapper?
