Some of that ice went into the path of the http://www.beyondthecircle.com/follow/ expedition.
The sailing team will be stuck by that ice.

The kayak team http://www.revedeglace.ca/ is (cheating) moving through creeks to avoid that ice.
I checked the map and it looks like that they have to carry the kayak for a bit to get to the other side. I could be wrong but the map shows me no other way.
That team only said they would travel the Route with their Kayak and they had wheels to do over land transport, if needed. Their’s is a sporting expedition, they want to be the first to travel the route by sea kayak in a season. They have probably spent more time with their paddles that the other team with their oars.
I was going to mention the wheels but miked beat me to it … the wheels are pretty slick and it shows (as might be expected with a couple of firemen) they were thinking ahead. Check out their website for a pic of the wheels. I had been thinking that the portages would be tough and then I saw the wheels and realized it would be pretty easy going except the sparrow sized mosquitoes!!
If the ice extent reverts to the average, the alarmists will say it is “extreme”.
Asking an alarmist to not be alarmed is like asking a leech not to be a leech. It’s a slimy bloodsucker and always will be……just like alarmists are.
It is Extreme! Extreme Average!
stupid ice…..Melt, damn you!
Its almost like the Earth itself is sick of leftists. Obama makes a big speech fixing “climate change” and the planet gives him the 1 finger salute.
Ice area taking a positive turn. Guess all that meltwater is freezing up.
