Arctic Sea-Ice Monitor

Note the increase in Beaufort and Chukchi Sea sea ice since 2004. This is important because essentially all of that gained ice (green) will survive the winter and become multi-year ice, whereas most of the missing ice (red) on the other side of the Arctic would have gotten flushed out into the North Atlantic and melted – if it existed now.

I think we were lucky this year because the ice left after the 2012 summer was mostly packed over N. Canada, and also the winds were not so strong as last year.
Now If the conditions remain favorable, we’ll see the MYI increasing in the eastern part of the Arctic, towards the Bering Strait and on the eastern side of Greenland, as it happened at the beginning of the XX century.

It appears the intrepid rowers have finally thrown in the towel at Cambridge Bay. I’m sure they will claim success somehow.

Leftists always get credited for their intentions, not their actions. Failure is a resume enhancer as long as you are for their pet issues. Bill Clinton is revered by feminists even after messing around with an intern on the job. Reality is not in any way meaningful to these twits.

They can’t claim success on anything, on their site http://mainstreamlastfirst.com/ they admitted bad weather hindered them from the beginning, the weather was unusually cold, and locals said they have not see that amount of ice still left in the last 20 years with some bays never melting. How can they claim any success? it was just the opposite! it CONFIRMED what a hoax global warming is. Every sign pointed pointed to the weather getting colder. Are we sure Al Gore wasn’t stowed away somewhere on this trip, it sure looks like the Gore effect in full effect! 🙂

Here’s a boat being towed out of pack ice by a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker. It’s being dragged over and battered by large chunks of ice. Nearly rolled over at one point.

That vid of the Grey Goose towing the Fine Tolerance is excellent. Steven even gets star billing from the Grey Goose Captain!!

All the areas of 60-80% concentration across the high arctic are now freezing over. New ice can clearly be seen between the now MYI floes.

  5. QV says:

Jaxa sea ice showed a daily gain of 37,800 square KM on the 29th, which is the largest daily gain before September 12th, since at least 2002.
Of course the daily figure could yet be revised.

From the mainstream site …. “Our ice router Victor has been very clear in what lies ahead. He writes, “Just to give you the danger of ice situation at the eastern Arctic, Eef Willems of “Tooluka” (NED) pulled out of the game and returning to Greenland. At many Eastern places of NWP locals have not seen this type ice conditions. Residents of Resolute say 20 years have not seen anything like. Its, ice, ice and more ice. Larsen, Peel, Bellot, Regent and Barrow Strait are all choked. That is the only route to East. Already West Lancaster received -2C temperature expecting -7C on Tuesday with the snow.””

I love it “ice, ice and more ice” … but all rotten, decayed first year ice 😉 sarc

All this snow and cold, even in the high Arctic is very unusual for August.

Arctic Ice total meltdown now postponed till 2016 plus minus 3. http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2010/06/06/206155/arctic-death-spiral-maslowski-ice-free-arctic-watts-goddard-wattsupwiththat/
Clever move, because when in 2019 we will have a completely frozen Arctic (the new Little Ice Age will have made a good start by then), most people will have forgotten their phoney predictions.
