The reason that there is “hundreds of Gt being calved” is because there is a huge excess of snow and ice in the interior, which is being pushed to the sea by its own weight. We have watched more than a metre accumulate at the Greenland Country Club over the last year, forcing them to relocate the club house.
If the amount of ice accumulating in the interior decreased, then the amount of ice flowing to the sea would also diminish. If surface melt exactly equaled accumulation, then eventually calving would slow down to zero and the amount of ice would remain constant.
This is a typical mistake made by alarmists. Combine mutually exclusive worst case possibilities into an impossible disaster scenario.
He probably thinks the interior is melting or evaporating or something due to CO2.
I suppose the other point to make is that CAGW theory has nothing to say about MB as increasing temperature is supposed to drive SMB changes. But these idiots look at any number that is changing in the direction they want and blame it on CO2. They are so dumb it’s painful to read.

Paul, I’m telling you most of these loons believe that the ice up there is what is left from the last ice age and when it melts it will be gone forever. There is no other explanation for the hysterical reactions that come from them…..other than it helps advance their agenda.
I find it bizarre the libtards think that it is their job to manage the ice on Greenland, but then there is no power that libz won’t assume onto themselves.
In other words: the ice holding capacity of Greenland has been exceeded and excess is getting pushed into the sea as calving glaciers.
