NSIDC : Second
This year “will without a doubt” rank in the top five lowest levels of ice extent ever recorded in the satellite era, and there is a good possibility that 2013 could rank second in terms of recorded ice lows, said Walt Meier, a scientist at the National Snow & Ice Data Center.
“It’s kind of remarkable that it’s as low as it is [this year], given that the weather conditions were not terribly optimal for ice loss,” Meier said.

Yup, that figures. When there’s plenty of ice, the weather conditions are not optimal for ice loss. When there’s a bit less ice, it’s global warming.
Does anyone ever inform these so called “experts” just how wrong they have been?
I wouldn’t be buying insurance off Walt Meier with his record.
“You’ll never claim on your life insurance” he would have told Trayvon Martin.
You are not on the same drug regimen as the folks at NSIDC!
That would be “Ivory Tower” brand “Insulin”…
I am thinking for NSIDC it is closer to Magic Mushrooms.

It is hard to conceive that a professional “scientist” would sit there with the data staring him in the face and tell a bald faced lie. That should erase any doubt that AGW is all about an agenda with very little to do with science.
2013 COULD be 2nd lowest. It COULD also be 2nd highest. Typical alarmist weasle words. You just know this years summer ice is really upsetting them.
Watch for the Arctic ice data sets to suddenly & miraculously include years prior to 2000.
When you can’t “creatively adjust” the data, then the true magic is in how you “frame” the data.
