NSIDC Makes A Bold Forecast

Arctic sea ice extent maintained a steady, near-average pace of retreat through the first half of August, making it highly unlikely that a new record low minimum will be reached this year. Nevertheless, there are extensive areas of low concentration ice, even in regions close to the North Pole,

The balding Arctic | Arctic Sea Ice News and Analysis

Translation :

There has been a huge increase in ice this year, but our funders  will  be angry if we don’t say something negative. We decided  that a double negative was the right thing say, because it doesn’t sound like a positive.

We had to get this unusually timed press report out quickly, because much of  that low concentration ice will be 100% concentration in a few days – and then we wouldn’t have anything negative to say.

I guess they didn’t have much to say about Antarctica.

  2. Okie says:

The warmists will increasingly seize single data points rather than trends. They will always be able to identify singular droughts, storms, and high temperature anomalies to feed the propaganda template. A photo of a polar bear on a small iceberg is all they need as long as they control the schools and media.

  3. Fred from Canuckistan . . . says:

wonder what it will say when it is edited for Obama’s Teleprompter,

“massive amounts of ice lost in the Arctic again this year.”

    ??

  4. David Jay says:

Massive Arctic ice losses reported since March…

    In other news;
Huge Antarctic ice losses predicted for the remainder of 2013 and into the first quarter of 2014

    • stewart pid says:

A truly unprecedented outbreak of summer in the summertime … obviously climate change of a type even worse than we thought possible.

  5. QV says:

Yes, you would think that they would be expressing great joy that the predictions of an “ice free” arctic haven’t happened!

  6. kbray in california says:

If ice is melting in the Arctic and there is no one there to see it, has it really melted ?

  7. gator69 says:

Good thing they decided to put that goal post on wheels, because soon it will need to be motorized.

  8. Chewer says:

And in other news, climate alarmists are losing their minds and going absolutely bat-shit crazy due to the lack of catastrophic melting in the arctic regions.

    • Marian says:

That can be fixed. They will wipe their brow. With the cyber ice melt simulations and says their computer model projected sea ice free Arctic. So it did happen.in their moronic brains 🙂

  9. Ben says:

Look at some of the recent images of flat-top ice floes in open Arctic water. Compared to the boats beside them, they are sticking up 2 meters, that means there are 18 meters under water.

The thin rotten ice is buried deep in the ocean.

Even the rowing captain stated the ice that broke their anchor was 40 feet thick.

  10. QV says:

It’s ironic that the alarmists are probably hoping the ice will melt more, while we sceptics are hoping it won’t!

  11. Record low or not, it won’t bother the polar bears. Virtually all of the evidence to date indicates that ice extent in September has not harmed polar bears. Why? September is the least important month of the year as far as polar bears are concerned.

Have a look at my summary of evidence and be prepared for the hue and cry next month:
