It varied depending on the job and industry, but a general hand at the wharves was paid a minimum of £3/13/ for a 44 hour week.

Women earned £1 18s per week.
It’s as much as I earn now..
I wonder how much $$ the driver of this Ball Collector makes per week at the Greenland Country Club. LOL

And a lovely day for watching the ladies sun bathing at the poolside!
With all that reflected light, clothing optional pole sitting can yield an all over tan.
They are still working on the Clothing Optional thing! The problem is the ladies prefer clothless apparel.
If we raised the minimum wage to $1000/hr, we’d all be millionaires in no time!
And we will also all be paupers!
The year my dad had a newborn son & a wife to support he made less than $3000. That same money lasts me & my wife less than 2 months. I expect that by the time I’m my dad’s age now, I’ll have to make $500,000/yr just to scrape by. If we’re lucky.
Wow, immagine if you had managed to save ten times your yearly salary to retire on at 55 and managed to set it aside in a box for your great great grandchild. They would receive the grand total of about 8,000.00 AUD.
Now if you had bought gold at the time then….
There was no minimum wage backthen.

The drought, the heat, the fires, the extreme weather have all taken their toll this year.
The slight olive decline is from Sacramento bureaucrats restricting water allocations to farmers… nothing to do with the weather (climate).
The real quote was 8 million Italian bayonets. The word Italian is left out. It was from Benito Mussolini, the fascist leader.

“$100 placed at 7 percent interest compounded quarterly for 200 years will increase to more than $100,000,000 — by which time it will be worth nothing.”
