A small organic farm in Arlington, Texas, was the target of a massive police actionlast week that included aerial surveillance, a SWAT raid and a 10-hour search.
Members of the local police raiding party had a search warrant for marijuana plants, which they failed to find at the Garden of Eden farm. But farm owners and residents who live on the property told a Dallas-Ft. Worth NBC station that the real reason for the law enforcement exercise appears to have been code enforcement. The police seized “17 blackberry bushes, 15 okra plants, 14 tomatillo plants … native grasses and sunflowers,” after holding residents inside at gunpoint for at least a half-hour, property owner Shellie Smith said in a statement. The raid lasted about 10 hours, she said.
Did they forget to shoot the dogs? Americans are soon going to start moving to Egypt for safety and freedom.
There was to much missing from that report! It all sounds innocent on the part of the people at the so called farm, but Suspicious anyway.
There was no reason for a SWAT team to be involved in a routine city code enforcement matter.
We do not know that to be true! It is possible but there is more going on there than we are being told. This report sounds like someone wanting to make the police look bad.

BTW the word “organic” means carbon or life dependent on carbon, as in CO2 otherwise known as “all life on Earth.” And carbon based organic fertilizer is that the Tomatillo and okra dealing Garden of Eden farmers spread under their “tomatillo” and okra plants. Hummm, it looks like Hansen and M. Mann have found their global warming culprit.

Miked1947, not to get off topic here but almost every major food scare in the last 10 – 15 years has NOT been a ground beef, beef. Instead they have been raw organic vegetable SNAFUs. And yes if you wish to eat organically grown lettuce you had best use a powerful magnifying glass at the kitchen sink when you wash your raw organic lettuce so that you can be sure that you got all the little pieces of Charmin Ultra off your lettuce before it goes into your salad bowl or your pie hole.

Wow!?! Some are actually supporting utilizing SWAT to enforce city codes based on the speculation that “there is more going on here than we are being told”?!? That is the defense of this out-of-proportion raid? I guess we’ll have to wait for the inevitable lawsuit filed by the organic farmers to get the answers you are seeking…if they indeed exist.
Meanwhile, taxpayers have just shelled out big bucks in a settled lawsuit by Berwyn Heights, Md Mayor Cheye Calvo after SWAT killed his two dogs in yet another senseless SWAT raid. Seems the Prince George’s County Sherriff’s Department are trying to correct their prior bad behavior; “County police say they’ve already begun changing how warrants are executed….”. If the police are starting to get it, why can’t others?
The real mystery is why holding SWAT accountable for their actions is so hard for some to grasp. Should we really be that eager to give away our constitutional rights over a dispute that could easily be remedied in a court of law without any need for calling in the Calvary? There have been numerous hills across the world worth dying over to preserve our freedom. But is taking an organic farm via brute police force really worth killing our freedom over?
BTW – Read the linked article. This stupid raid was all about neighbors disgruntled with the appearance of the yard/structures on the raided property rather than any perceived serious crime. Supposed pot cultivation was just the ‘tool’ these neighbors used as a means to their end. After ten hours of searching by dozens of police with no pot to be found, I think we can all agree that growing weed was a bogus claim fabricated by the ‘neighbors’, resulting in this being a bogus use of SWAT as Steve has simply pointed out.
I read the article and I am not defending the actions of the Police. I am saying this article does not give all the facts or the history of the group that was raided. I live in the country and some of my neighbors would draw weapons on inspectors and have. This type of action might have saved lives by the overbearing show of force. If they had been advised there was illegal drugs on the property, they were walking into a dangerous situation. They may well have been peaceful Organic Farmers growing crops in a residential neighborhood, code violation. They could have had hundreds of pot plants there also. The police did not know going in.
