That is one way to get rid of them.
Maybe it will be Ebola refugees instead….
Isn’t that what they were saying 16 years ago?
When buying houses in Antarctica should you go condo or go for a single family home … anyone got a good Antarctica realtor?
I think I would like to be on a golf course!
SARC
You need to lay in a stock of those fluorescent orange golf balls… white ones are hard to see in all that melting ice.
Antarctica is protected by treaty!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protocol_on_Environmental_Protection_to_the_Antarctic_Treaty
Can’t settle there–no development allowed!
Good place to send all the ISIS and Guantanamo prisoners
Sending ISIS and company to Antarctica constitutes pollution and is contrary to the environmental protection treaty.
Besides it would be inhumane because Penguins would be poor substitutes for their coital preference for donkeys.
Awesome idea. Give them a magnetic compass and watch them running around in circles trying to find Mecca 5 times a day.
Today some Walrus’ came ashore in Alaska =no ice in the Arctic. Today Ebola and the enterovirus = warmening. Unbelievable!
And there is more. According to the European Space Agency the loss of ice in Antarctica has caused a change in gravity. http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Observing_the_Earth/GOCE/GOCE_reveals_gravity_dip_from_ice_loss
Funny thing about those gravitational anomalies…the same kind of thing shows up in active volcanic areas…
As mjc says anyone else spot the giant volcanos in the area – Mt Siple 3,110m (10,203ft), Mt Hampton 3,323m, (10,902ft), Mt Sidley 4,285m (14,058ft), Mt Waesche 3,292m (10,801ft) (last 3 are members of the Executive Committee range), Mt Steere 3,558m (11,673ft), Mt Frakes 3,654m (11,998ft), Toney Mountain 3,595m (11,795ft), Mount Takahe 3,460m (11,352ft), Mount Murphy 2,703m (8,868ft), and the Hudson Mountains 749m (2,457ft). Steam was reported from the Hudson mountains in 1974 and there was an unconfirmed report of an eruption detected by satellite in 1985. The Hudson Mountains may be volcanically active – look at Google Earth; ash, meltwater ponds and drainage channels are visible on the surface in the vicinity of the Hudson mountains.
The biggest eruption in Antarctica in the last 10,000 years occurred in the Hudson Mountains next to the Pine Island Glacier:

In that 2008 report the British Antarctic Survey attributed some thinning of the Pine Island Glacier to volcanism in the Hudson Mountains.
Don’t forget Mt. Erebus…continuously active, since at least 1972. It’s on Ross Island, not the mainland, though…
It’s also nearly 1,000nm from the WAIS. I only reported the obvious volcanos (most of them have round craters at the top) in the vicinity of what I think is called the ‘Amundsen Sea Embayment’.
Lots of volcanoes. They found some under water too.

Is this article about Alaskan sea ice accurate at all? http://www.foxnews.com/science/2014/10/01/here-why-35k-walruses-crowded-onto-one-beach/?intcmp=features
These sorts of stories are called Science Fiction. Years ago writers were paid a penny a word for such as this. I suppose this article was rejected.
Yeah…they had such things as standards back then. The magazines did require some level of believability and plausibility, after all, they were publishing SCIENCE fiction, not ‘magic’ or fantasy stories.
John Cambell – Analog
He would not have published something that far “out there.” Good SciFi is grounded in science.
Analog was never the same without John Campbell.
We have lots of climate refugees, but a huge percentage are still moving from cold places to warm places. I seriously doubt that will change anytime soon.
Considering the record breaking size of the “Ice-Doughnut” (20million sq/km) of floating ice surrounding Antarctica, it’s all good, as the greenies can hop on their bicycles and go there directly when the ice reaches Australia in a few years!
If all alarmists moved to Antarctica, I think that would be splendid. I mean, the rest of us will boil from all the heat, right? I live in Canada. Been hoping for LOTS of global warming for a while now. Still a no show despite all the claims. But alarmists are not going to Antarctica (aside from certain ships of fools), they are buying land along the coastline. Areas that are supposed to be flooding caused by rising water levels. The hypocrisy knows no bounds.
We could chop Malibu from California and then steam it down to Antarctica where the warmists can enjoy the heat better! 🙂
Why not take the entire southern half of California? No one would really miss it and there is already a crack so it should be easy to break off and move. I am sure the Russian Ice breakers are up to it.
Heck just give Putin California… NAH, he wouldn’t want it.
Would these be part of the 50 million climate refugees that never materialized?
Here’s a link to the report that Goddard is referring to, which might be more useful than a blog post linking to a dead 6 year old Telegraph page:
http://www.forumforthefuture.org/sites/default/files/project/downloads/climate-futures.pdf
The Antarctica thing is on page 9. It suggests a date of 2040, not 2030, and it states explicitly in the introduction that it is not a prediction.
There’s an argument to made whether speculative reports like these have any use, but don’t hold them up as predictions by ‘experts’, and at least get the numbers right.
You missed the whole point. Goddard is pointing out the MSM PROPAGANDA.
95% of the population has never read a scientific peer-reviewed paper in their lives. The closest they get to ‘Science’ is pieces like this.
