“The Weather.—Tuesday was a day of extreme temperature, violent gales of wind and excessive clouds of dust. Early in the morning the thermometer, stood at 80 in the shade. The heat gradually increased till 11 o’clock, when the hot blast commenced and the mercury rose to 102. At one o’clock, the thermometer, with a southern aspect, stood at 106 ; while on the north-western exposure in the shade it rose to 120. The scorching hurricane lasted till 4 p.m., and then shifted a point or two to the south-west, when a perceptible diminution of heat resulted. Throughout the day the streets were deserted, vehicles were stopped, trees uprooted, and buildings injured.—Geelong Advertiser.”

All folklore from prehistoric man! You can’t trust a silly thermometer reading from the past that is not adjusted down by today’s leading climate scientists.
