The percentage of 90 degree days in the US is plummeting, and has been near record lows the past two summers.
But it worse than it seems. The coolest summer was 1992 – which was caused by particulates blocking the sun after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.
Had satellites gone up in the 1930s, instead of the late 1970s, we would still be doing the global cooling scam, rather than the global warming scam.
Another summer like this past one, and I can forget about anyone seeing my ugly legs.
56°F this AM in East Central Florida when I checked earlier, 14°F below average. The “forecast” updated 9 minutes ago is for a low of 68°F with an “actual” low of 59°F… and they wonder why we don’t believe their “Climate Disruption” story anymore.
The min here in mid NC was 40.1 °F avg: 53 °F record 35 °F (1965)
N.C. State low: 34°F (34.9 °F?) in Morganton NC Avg: 48 °F record: 35 °F (1964) so it looks like we have a record low or at least a tie.
Keep your eyes on this. Best viewed during hours of darkness in Iceland. http://www.livefromiceland.is/webcams/bardarbunga/

Iceland is worried about that mother since the caldera has sunk over a meter.
From Ice Age Now
They have a new category following the volcano with links to a lot of other sites: http://iceagenow.info/category/volcanoes-leading-us-into-an-ice-age/volcanoes-subglacial/bardarbunga/
The bottom graph is earthquakes.

That’s a meter every three days. Overall, its sunk about 30m.
Thanks for the correction. I was going to correct it but had to go feed the animals and then forgot.
Let’s put it this way…another summer like this and the only way I’ll be getting any tomatoes from the garden is build a greenhouse to grow them in. The not really hot days and cool nights aren’t conducive to growing tomatoes.
That reminds me I really need to finish building that green house this winter.
Checkout square foot gardening. I am doing an el-cheapo using cement blocks three high for my beds and cattle panels to keep out the goats and act as a frame for the roof. By resting the panels on the blocks I get total width = 9 ft with decent height in the middle.

I keep mine simple – http://www.pvcplans.com/pvc-greenhouse.htm
As I am not very handy. But with a heater in side, this keeps the plants warm enough to survive the winter (even a Pomegranate tree – that is not native to this part of the country).
Insulate your blocks. I’m telling you this from hard learned experience. If your putting your raised garden in a place that gets full sun you will suffer lower yield and in some cases plant failure if you do not insulate.
My neighbor and I built 8 raised gardening troughs. They were 24″ high x 30″ wide by 7’6″ inside length. Framing made with treated lumber. Sides with western cedar planks reinforced by 1 1/12″ metal banding in two strips around the outside. Top edges with 5″ wide deck planking to make a nice sitting surface. We installed minnie irrigation with the little black tubes.
It worked reasonably well but we noticed in particularly hot summers we lost yield in certain crops. The only thing we could figure was that it was the heat was conducting into our soil via the sides of the boxes. We are now back to a conventional garden.
I plan to fill the concrete blocks with sand or some other insulator (vermiculite?) The nice thing about cattle panels and cement blocks is you can start out small and increase the size or completely dismantle and use the materials for something else.
I am just digging a two inch deep trench to stabilize the bottom blocks and then driving painted re-bar along the out side of the blocks to hold them in place as well as holding the cattle panel hoop in place. No cement no nails. The ends, especially the door are the only part that need a bit of engineering/ingenuity.

Thank you so much Tomomason for the excellent links! I’ve been reading them for an hour or more. So much on YouTube that I would never find by myself. No time; no energy! Besides Steven/Tony’s great posts and his sense of humor, I very much enjoy those of you regular, so informed and intelligent, commenters. Maybe there is some hope for us. May your good sense be magnified!
Record low here in Tampa Sunday morning. May not seem like much (since 57* is still mild for most of the country!) but in the 10 years I’ve lived here it’s the only record low I can recall not being set in the winter. Where I live it was down to 47.
Oh, I left out that this was also the coolest overall summer in the 10 years I’ve lived here. Temps did reach the 90’s ( too much for my liking but I did choose to move here) but mostly in low 90’s with lows in the low to mid 70’s. In many previous summers, we’ve been in the mid-90’s and lows around or just above 80 for long stretches. We’ve also had a few ‘cold’ fronts mosey through since early September. Something I don’t recall seeing, at least not too often.
