Why Won’t Those Ignorant Neanderthal Republicans Listen?

After crying wolf thousands of times over the past few decades, climate experts think that they just need to yell louder – and make up stories about a much scarier wolf.

  1. The boy called dinosaur but I believed him because I needed the giant eggs

  2. MrX says:

I think skeptics have already won. It’s never high on the list of people’s priorities. No warming going on 20 years. Earlier winters. Ice caps growing. They can shout. But that’s all they can do.

  3. Andy DC says:

Now there are more Neanderthal Republicans rather than less. These are bad times for the wolf crying alarmists. Hopefully even worse times for settled science in 2016.

  4. The Iconoclast says:

Hey Tony I think your RSS feed is broken. New articles aren’t showing up on Newsblur.

  5. Lawrence13 says:

Tony you do realise that Unisys drastic ocean cooling chart has been proved to have been totally incorrect. Sorry to post here but not sure how to get you attention. Please tell me the Unisys chart was accurate

    • Lawrence13 says:

Hmmm not one response by anyone. That doesn’t bode well and really disappoints me. are people that ignorant or brainwashed?

      • Keitho says:

No, most of us saw the updated map and said “Oh, that explains it, thanks”.

I would say that nobody actually believed there had been a sudden and massive cooling of the Arctic seas.

        But thanks.

        • Lawrence13 says:

So the headlines of that particular thread were wrong , well be a man and admit it the apology should match the headline. I’m not deliberately trolling or whatever that term means and like many the headline of the thread, saw the Unisys map which got me excited even concerned but you cannot do that and then carry on as if nothing has happened when the warning you were shouting turns out to be false. and is this a joke

“I would say that nobody actually believed there had been a sudden and massive cooling of the Arctic seas.”

Ah so it was a hoax , a jape a jolly good laugh and no one should have taken it seriously.

Okay if that’s how you see it, at least you had the decency to respond..

Poor show though, very poor show.

        • Keitho says:

I’m sorry Lawrence13 but I don’t write the headlines. I am just an honest little prole doing the best I can to make sense of the swirling maelstrom of nonsensical pseudoscience that flashes across the internet ever second of every day.

The absurd colours of the earlier map raised my BS detectors to defcon 4. I don’t know what drives others in this very contentious world of AGW but all I want is some sanity and objective understanding of what is going on. You might think that guys like me are the enemy but I really am not. The CAGW thing is obviously bogus but I have no idea why it has got so much traction and I assume it is political, as in ” we hate capitalism and it must be destroyed”.

Sorry, but I am really not the enemy I promise.

        • Wait until we hear from Unisys.

      • tom0mason says:

        Thread-hijacking troll – there a response.

      • tom0mason says:

        Because you’re a thread-hijacking troll.

    • Nonsense. I’m not interested in bullshit rumors from other web sites. Take your crap somewhere else.

      • Lawrence13 says:

If that was directed at me I really don’t understand your attitude bar that you’ll more than likely ban me if a point out not necessarily how wrong your headline was but more the fact it wasn’t acknowledged. I like most that are sick of the warmist propaganda don’t want to see/hear their continuous failure to acknowledge their failed doomsday forecasts. So acknowledge at least that the Unisys had you and many of us fooled.
I still don’t understand why you are so rude to someone who is a sceptic but got carried away riding on your headline because I visit and use your site everyday . Oh forget it I’m really fed up with this bullshite, I mean “take your crap somewhere else” . That’s sad behaviour Steve or Tony or both of you.

    • Ernest Bush says:

Unisys is investigating. They may very well leave the map generation programs alone. I would wait until the results before I got too excited. The U.S. government has a recent history of playing with temperature data. We are still waiting for the huge El Nino that was eminent according to government scientists in headlines from last spring, for instance. They also choose to ignore the difference between precision and accuracy an awful lot.

  6. Andy DC says:

Now that the Republicans have firm control of Congress, they should hold hearings to expose the blatant lies and data tampering that have taken place with respect to the global warming/climate change issue. After decades of incessant propaganda and misinformation from their Government, the public deserves the truth.

Also Republicans should defund the agencies involved and also defund the grant give away gravy train.

  7. Timo Soren says:

WRT to the grants I want FIRST that the Federal Granting agency enforce the requirements to ALL, EVERY grant recipient to publicly archive their data and code. If not, then they need to proceed to file for refund of the monies from both the institution and the individuals who did not comply with the requirements of the grants.

That would get peoples attention first.

Secondly, require every federally fund grant to state that the investigation has a hypothesis but the design must proceed in such a manner that failure of the hypothesis will be reported with the data to back it up that failure. No more prove man-made global warming.

Once we get those, then we start dropping the funding.

“Cargo Cult Science” by Richard Feynman

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvfAtIJbatg

Feynman laments that the kind of integrity he talks about isn’t baked into the science education system — which hardly comes as a surprise, given it’s largely a system premised on certitude at all costs and not on the very admission of ignorance that fuels science:

This long history of learning how not to fool ourselves — of having utter scientific integrity — is, I’m sorry to say, something that we haven’t specifically included in any particular course that I know of. We just hope you’ve caught on by osmosis.

The first principle is that you must not fool yourself — and you are the easiest person to fool. So you have to be very careful about that. After you’ve not fooled yourself, it’s easy not to fool other scientists. You just have to be honest in a conventional way after that.

Feynman concludes beautifully, with his penchant for focusing the anecdotes of the specific into a masterful beam of the universal:

I have just one wish for you — the good luck to be somewhere where you are free to maintain the kind of integrity I have described, and where you do not feel forced by a need to maintain your position in the organization, or financial support, or so on, to lose your integrity. May you have that freedom.

Another positive result from yesterday’s election!

    Climate change supporters suffer losses

“Despite millions spent to make climate change a wedge issue during the midterms, environmentally friendly candidates didn’t fare well on Election Day.”

“Green groups funneled an unprecedented amount of money into top Senate races that determined control of the upper chamber but fell short.”

    • Frank K. says:

It just occurred to me how inane the term “climate change supporter” sounds. It’s like calling someone a “weather change supporter”. What? You don’t support weather change?! You denier!… (LOL!!)

  10. Keitho says:

    Global Warming enthusiasts.

For what it is worth the Chinese hacked the US – NOAA computers but the info was not released until AFTER Obola met with the Chinese and agreed to a CAGW treaty hamstriong the USA while giving the Chinese carte blanche.
