One of my relatives was a top lawyer in Havana, when the Castro Taliban took over. He fled with his family and barely got out with his life, then spent the rest of his life working as a librarian at an American university.
Havana was a great metropolitan city before the commies took over and completely wrecked the place.

Well, clearly there was far too much income-inequality before Dear Leader Fidel took over and booted out Bautista.
Now, most everyone is equally poor and living in in socialized squalor.
Viva la retribution!
One of the lab techs I worked with had a PhD in Mathematics from University of Havana. She was one very very smart lady. What an absolute waste having such talent in an industrial chemistry lab.
Those same cars are still on the streets.
Steve,
A few hours a go I posted a comment about a Canadian friend’s brand new R*u*s*s*ian truck that never ran. That comment too has gotten kicked into the ether.
Is it me or your site that is being c*e*n*sored?
Gail, there aren’t any comments from you in the spam in the spam folder.
Thanks for checking Steve. Down right weird.
How many people even know that Batista was a mulatto? We haven’t seen any in government since 1960.
I was educated over many years about Cuba by an old Cuban gentleman. Among the things I learned was this: a country’s first measure of freedom is whether you are free to leave it. The country which Roberto described to me was free, as Froude described it in 1882–unimaginably corrupt but surprisingly happy and functional.
The results of ‘the fundamental transformation’ of Cuba. Is this what we have to look fwd to?
Obama’s Science Czar, Holdren wants to “de-develop’ the USA.

“Can we balance the need for a sustainable planet with the need to provide billions with decent living standards? Can we do that without questioning radically the Western way of life?”
So yes the S.O.Bs want to reduce the rest of us to serfdom with lives that are brutal, ugly and short.
A socialist friend, who is a Professor in one of the N.C. colleges, even has his daughter convinced that she should not have as nice a live as he and his wife have in order to save the environment and to save the earth from CAGW.
What ever happened to wanting thing better for your children?
Sustainability, the commie/climate clown buzz word to get the audience nodding their head. Yup, we have to have sustainability all right, otherwise we might run out of something someday, and because we are too stupid to use something else, we’re all gonna die. Where do I sign up?
I HATE the word “Sustainability” and so do a lot of farmers who had the word stolen from them.
In farming ‘sustainable’ actually means something. You rotate crops and rotate pasture/cropland/forest to rebuild the soil and leave you kids a productive farm.
In politics ‘Sustainability’ is just another hobgoblin under the bed used to scare the sheeple with.
“…the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.” — H.L. Mencken
If you look at human history from the Shaman and his eclipses and foretelling of the seasons to the Climastrologists and there computer
gamesmodels, those in power have used knowledge and fear to kept the people in line and wealth flowing in their direction. Only this time there is no real knowledge and too many of the people can see the manipulator behind the curtain has feet of clay.Too bad that part of human history is never ever taught.
Degrowth is another word the lib/progs are bantering about these days. If you can stomach listening to it, you might be interested in this radio show featured last year on the little cbc feature david suzuki and jeff rubin. http://www.cbc.ca/player/Radio/Ideas/ID/2342315880/
My father was raised in Miami and used to travel to Cuba every year with his High School band, it was the high point of their year. Dad said it was a paradise beyond compare, and then came Castro.
Poor Obummer. Clinton got to make best friends with China while Obummer is left with a tiny speck of an island that is very poor to boot.
Um, it was the Republican Nixon who got China…
Nixon opened diplomatic talks with China and the soviet Union. link
(I have zero use for Kissinger, Nixon’s Sec of State but that clown Kerry has got to be worse.)
It was Clinton who transfered US technology including weapons technology to China, gave China ‘most favored’ nation status and worked to get China into the World Trade Organization.
All that was done AFTER The Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989, where unarmed students were gunned down.
The Epoch Times is an interesting news source and worth checking out.
It’s very telling how global trade interests are more important than human rights or civil liberties, to Dems. They were so concerned about the treatment of terror suspects in Guantanamo, but not for the innocent in the rest of Cuba. They show their hand: more impressed with one-party, authoritarian demagogues than freedom.
The DemiRats values are very fluid, but then they are politicians trying to grab and retain power so anything that buys a vote is used.
I should clarify.
BOOING the treatment of terror suspects in Guantanamo by the meanie military buys sympathy votes from the touchie-feelie crowd.
Supporting the global trade interests of the transnational corporations brings the cold hard cash flowing in as campaign contributions.
Not hard to understand at all.

On balance, out of the two, if I had to chose, Fidel does look a lot less, ‘head-cutty-offy.’
Cuba is the perfect example of the failure of socialism. A place where innovation goes to die, and with the death of innovation goes the inability to create wealth. Cuba is such a good example of this phenomenon; where time has stood still.
They’re sitting on a fortune in pre ’63 GM vehicles. Broke my heart to see a picture of a ’55 Bel Air converted to a power raft a few years ago. They almost got it to shore when it was scuttled.
These comparisons are easy, but no harm in bringing them up over and over again:
https://danieljmitchell.wordpress.com/2014/11/26/what-can-hong-kong-and-cuba-teach-us-about-economic-policy/
“Through much of the 1950s, Hong Kong and Cuba were economically similar, and both were very close to the world average.
Then Hong Kong became a poster child for capitalism while Cuba became an outpost of Soviet communism. And, as you might expect, the people of Hong Kong prospered.”
…. before the commies took over and completely wrecked the place.
I suspect they will be saying exactly the same thing about America in 50 years’ time.
We are already saying it now. Except it is the Fabian Progressives that took over the place.
U.S. Standard of Living Has Fallen More Than 50%
.
Add this:
The bottom line is that, in terms of gold, wages have fallen by about 87 percent. To get a stronger sense of what that means, consider that back in 1965, the minimum wage was 71 ounces of gold per year. In 2011, the senior engineer earned the equivalent of 63 ounces in gold. So, measured in gold, we see that senior engineers now earn less than what unskilled laborers earned back in 1965.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2013/10/09/measured-in-gold-the-story-of-american-wages-is-an-ugly-one/
yes I did that comparison in 2006. Gold may be volatile (It is the last resort for stashing cash when the fecal material maybe hitting the rotating blade.) but it has been in use, successfully for thousands of years across many cultures. That is why the US Constitution explicitly stated GOLD and SILVER. The London Banksters were already well known to the founding fathers.
Now look at the quote from Senator Aldrich the Sponsor of the first iteration of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. (It was originally the Aldrich bill.)
The S.O.B knew what he was doing and was laughing at the people of the USA that he planned to rob! I can just see the little smile playing on his lips as he said this.
Any commodity who’s value is determined on a market will be volatile at one time or another. But unlike most commodities the average person has the ability to physically possess a very valuable amount of precious metals or stones. I did very well in Gold a few years back and intend to physically hold a minimum of 10% of my net worth in such types of physical wealth as long as I’m still kicking.
rah,
I mention the fact gold is not completely stable because I have had a few go rounds with E.M. Smith on the subject of gold as currency. He does not like gold, but then he is an economist by training.
I like gold because it helps keep the b@$t@rds honest better than fiat currency does. Also if the gold becomes more ‘valuable’ that is a signal to get out the pan and start panning for gold…. (Reminds me to take a look at the streams on my property.)
An interesting analysis of the current gold market: http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/12/22/lawless-manipulation-bullion-markets-public-authorities-paul-craig-roberts-dave-kranzler/
Also of note:
That is how the Rothschilds managed to suck all the gold out of Fort Knox.
Gail
First got into the stuff when I was a kid collecting coins and putting together the sets and buying the proof sets from the US mint every year. Though I continued to collect stuff with numismatic value I started to also acquire a few small bullion bars. The very first gold I bought was a little antique gold token from Mexico. Still have it.
But the funny thing is the set I value most is not gold or coins or bills, not that old, and at least right now, not nearly as valuable as some other things in my collection. It’s one of these in my name given to me by an uncle with who I shared the same name. http://goldsmithworks.com/ebay/US-REVOLUTION-SILVER-INGOTS/
It is a wonderful piece that I will never give up until I pass it to my Son someday. Funny how that works.
Cuba today is what liberals want America tomorrow to be.
Too true, unfortunately.
My how the leaders of the Fabian/Progressive/Socialists must hate the ordinary human being, especially the middle class. All the while they smile and tell us how they have only our best interests at heart, they are planning on how to turn us into corpses or slaves. That is why I see the two faced Janus as their God.
”If I were reincarnated I would wish to return to earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.”— Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, Patron of the Patron of the World Wildlife Foundation (Remember the British Royal family owns large chunks of the BP and Shell Oil companies who have been pushing CAGW from the very start.) link
”The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States. We can’t let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization we have in the US. We have to stop these third World countries right where they are.” — Michael Oppenheimer, Environmental Defense Fund
You clearly don’t understand TRUE Communism. Cuba got it wrong. It wasn’t TRUE Communism.
If they had done it Better, Harder, and More Communist it really could have worked.
You see, the wrong people were in charge and failed to implement TRUE Communism.
This time, it’ll work. Because we’ll have the Right People in charge.
The Pilgrims tried Communism in the 1620s it flopped big time and Governor William Bradford gave up…
It has flopped and killed people ever since then when ever tried:. DEMOCIDE: Death by Government
What is hysterical is now the socialist are saying realists are rewriting history! Yeah like we went back in time and rewrote Governor William Bradford’s journals… RIIIIiiiiGHT

GEE, It only took the Left fifteen years to notice that their revised American History was being challenged by quotes direct from historical documents.
Another article using the direct quotes: Property and the First Thanksgiving
Absolutely! If people only knew a small spattering of history, they’d see how insane any form of collectivism is.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s never meant to work–certainly not the way it’s stated, but not even the way it turns out.
It’s touted as a plan to equalize and empower the people. It’s designed in fact to create an oligarchy; to foster neo-feudalism.
But its real end is far beyond that, because the “elite” are such sociopaths they end up eating each other after they’ve eaten the middle class.
Its REAL purpose is power, death, and destruction–and it’s the brainchild of a deeply malevolent spirit.
It is most certainly all about creating neo-feudalism.
The brainchild of a deeply malevolent spirit? I do not know about that but it very much attracts the Sociopaths. Not only that but those sociopaths search out and train more sociopaths to carry on.

Is a good history in one link.
Excerpts from the book, Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time
by Carroll Quigley, Bill Clinton’s mentor is another very good link.

Clinton was not surprisingly a Rhodes Scholar. The Round Tables are the Cecil Rhodes-Milner Round Tables such as the Council on Foreign Relations(CFR) and the Committee on Economic Development (CED) CED orchestrated the destruction of US independent farmers and thereby pushed people into cities where they are dependent on the corporations or the government and have no hope of being independent.

After reading that I realized out government is malevolent.
I do. And I know you do, too. You’ve read enough works by the inventors.
Every communist since Marx has said that. That should be the true communist manifesto.
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” — Albert Einstein
If you read: The Philosophy Of Karl Marx, The Hegelian Basis
You can see they truly have a few screws loose. Only a group protected from reality could hold such an insane philosophy. Otherwise the first coyote pack, cougar, or grizzly bear will make short work of them.
If they called themselves insane, that would mean they are not. So I will stick with the first substituted manisfesto (no one did it right), as THEIR motto, and the insanity one for the sane people’s description of them,.
Phil,
I was just reading Pointy’s Climate Prat of the Year award and put together something I had not realized at the time.
The Russian Captain point blank told the Chris Tmas Turkey to get everyone back on board ASAP, the ice was closing fast and they needed to skaddle. Instead he disobeyed the Captain’s Direct Order to kiss the bum of the Green Party Candidate and see that she got her Photo Ops with the Adélie Penguins. In doing so he put his own children at risk!
Someone should get the equivalent of Child Services to take the kids away from him since he has proved he doesn’t give a S… about his kids. He has certainly proved he is not willing to put their safety first.
The best version on the theme I’ve ever heard was some 20-25 years ago on the excellent Ken Hamblin Show. The “Black Avenger” interviewed one Steve Montoya, a Colorado Commie, who dedicated himself to create the collective paradise to the United States. When Ken challenged him and asked why Communism should work here when it had never worked anywhere else, this Steve Montoya character replied confidently:
“We are Americans, we can make everything work.”
It’s been a long time and I may have gotten a few details wrong but I remember pounding the steering wheel of my commuter car and shouting something like:
“F*cking A, Genosse Montoya! Avanti! You got the guts to say it! National Socialism! It works better! Holy Benito! American exceptionalism, Nazi version!”
I was yelling so much that I missed what Ken told him but I trust it was good.
—–
Ken’s been off the air for over a decade now. I wonder what he says about current affairs. I once spoke with him as he was leaving a gun shop in Denver on his Harley. He grew up in Brooklyn, his parents were immigrants from Barbados and his father was a cop. He used to play Taps for fallen policemen on his show and called liberals “egg-sucking dogs”.
I miss him.
—–
Watch Ken in front of a disagreeable Progressive audience on the Chris Rock show. The morons don’t have a clue—and don’t want to hear—that after being discharged from the 101st Airborne, Hamblin went on to get farm workers registered to vote in North Carolina:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8Ew_MiPf14
… and here he’s been sighted in Colorado …
Correction: … paradise in the United States …
The black community needs more leaders like Hamblin.
“After a squabble with his syndicator, Hamblin bailed as a public figure in 2003….”
Why does that not surprise me?
When this Montoya said “We are Americans, we can make everything work.”, what he really meant was that he was counting on us, the peasants, to make it work.
Colorado Wellington says:
I do. And I know you do, too.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Colorado, I am not willing to attribute to a ‘malevolent spirit’ what can easily be explained by massive greed for power, wealth and complete control. It is also very obvious that type of personality can be passed down from one generation to the next as can be seen in North Korea.
What is relatively new is the coordination among the sociopaths. I say ‘relatively’ because this all traces back a couple hundred years, maybe more.
Heck all you have to do is look at the Rothschild dynasty with a rumored $500 Trillion dollar worth— About 1/2 the world’s total wealth.
Marx died broke and powerless. He couldn’t even control his carbuncles.
“The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.”
(excusez-moi, Monsieur Baudelaire)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgSL3hY5iPE
Marx died broke and powerless…..
He was a tool and lucky he did not end up dead prematurely. Remember he was financed by his uncle a wealthy banker Benjamin Philips. Benjamin’s sister, the mother of Karl Marx retained her Jewish faith. (I normally never mention the faith since it is irrelevant except for the fact the original Rothschilds were persecuted because they were Jews and once you do mention faith you give the PC crowd a target.)
This from a leftist is rather interesting:
I was not aware that the ties between Karl Marx and the Rothschilds were so close although I figured there were ties within the Jewish banking community.
Apologies if this repeats a previous post by someone else, but, the US Media and Leftards heavily supported Castro and helped him with propaganda to garner world support just as they supported commies in Russia, China, Korea, Vietnam…
Don’t forget WHO was behind Lenin link and WHO pulls the strings of the MSM link and have since 1915.
Also do not forget Ike’s caution.
This is an interesting take on events: What caused Ike to criticize the “military-industrial complex”?
Remember in 1915 it was the J.P. Morgan, powder (as in gun powder) steel and ship building who grabbed control of the US news papers and made sure the USA entered WWI
Shortly after that Senator Charles Lindbergh had his books destroyed by government agents.
Not satisfied with the destruction of the plates the J.P. Morgan journalist attack dogs vilified and destroy Lindbergh’s name along with many others.
The International Banking interests have been playing a game of chess with human lives for generations. CAGW, War, Economic Crashes are all in their bag of tricks and after each play people are dead and they are richer and more powerful.
Oh and speaking of their bag of tricks, Paul Craig Roberts warns of the latest idiocy. I sure hope he is wrong….
Now they are playing hard ball with Russia – with Nukes link
