Global Sea Ice Area Up 700,000 km^2 Over Past Decade

The area of sea ice on Earth has increased 700,000 km² over the past decade. This is the exact opposite of both expert forecasts, and current claims made by experts – who lack in both competence and honesty.

  1. Ron C. says:

But we don’t know the meaning of this amount of ice unless you tell us how many Manhattans it is.

  2. They predicted all along that sea ice would increase due to warming. It’s because of the thermohalocline.

  3. Steve Case says:

    I followed your data link
    http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/timeseries.global.anom.1979-2008
and it works out that Global Sea Ice hasn’t declined since 10 April 2001

At least that’s what my Excel spreadsheet says (-:

The problem with climate science today is that you can not separate the politics from the science. They are one and the same now, and any study that permits them to advance the global warming political narrative is sent out as a “major press release”. These press releases are then trumpeted by the sympathetic left wing media, again as a way of advancing the politics. Some scientists are now seeing this as a BIG mistake on their part, as the doom-and-gloom scenarios, which they happily hyped back in 2000 – 2007, fail to come true. Arctic ice variation is but one of these metrics which has not respond as they anticipated. Likewise for hurricanes, fires, snow cover etc. And now the lay public are discovering they’ve been duped by the climate scientists…

    • Gail Combs says:

Here is a comment from the lay public

We might possibly have believed scientists and scientific institutions in the distant past. Unfortunately their constant verbal diarrhea of lies packaged as research like makes our interest in them wane somewhat. Listening invariably requires us to hold our noses. Maybe if they were to admit their errors occasionally, and maybe if they admitted their political agendas occasionally, we might stir ourselves to listen for 30 seconds before laughing. ~ Bob

The problem with continually backing a dead horse in a horse race is sooner or later the general public notices the horse is dead. At that point the public concludes you are not a scientist but a snake oil salesman.

Science and Academia is going to have a bit of a problem recovering their reputations and so is the News Media.

  5. Edward. says:

Rumours spread, of the death of Arctic sea ice……………..have been greatly exaggerated.

Meanwhile…..over at NSIDC, “aw shucks I guess it’s back to the Ozone thingy!”

  6. Brad says:

Forgive me if this is old news but it appears you have quite the fan base Tony. People certainly can fixate on the strangest things.

The Great Lakes are freezing up early too. http://iceweb1.cis.ec.gc.ca/Prod20/page3.xhtml
At this rate, Lake Superior will be frozen completely over before Christmas, which will be unprecedented for earliest freeze over and freezing over 2 years in a row. Lake Superior usually completely freezes over once every 20 years.

  8. Peter Yates says:

New video by NASA that tries to explain the differences in sea ice trends in the Arctic and Antarctic. The comments are not complimentary so far! …. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hauoepPqns4

Reblogged this on Centinel2012 and commented:
Just more frozen heat we’ll pay the price later on!
